First photo thread -- fresh meat

Below are pictures of my mother-in-law's house in New Mexico that I got my wife to take when she was there last week. This has been abandoned for only about 6 months, but 2 of her dogs (if you can call them that -- see picture #10 below) and cats still live there. My wife's brother stops by about once per week to feed the animals but the house is otherwise abandoned for now.

Most threads are of sites that have been abandoned for longer, but this gives an idea of what an abandoned house looks like in the early stages of abandonment. I will try to get more after it's been abandoned for a longer period of time.

1. Abandoned washing machines.

2. More of the washing machines.

5. The lonely table (I asked for a chair).

6. Potty shot 1 -- I stressed the need for a good potty shot and this is one of the two that I got.

7. This is the second one -- gives more perspective.

8. This was on the fridge.

9. This was also on the fridge -- with a somewhat different message from the Jesus picture.

10. Last but not least, one of the animal inhabitants.

I realize that the photography is not great and that there are more interesting sites. But I am grateful for my wife doing this for me and I plan to take my own pictures once i find a good site and figure out how to use my new camera.

That poor dog. They need a new home where they can be properly cared for. Man, that makes me sad.

ya thats fucking disgusting....your mother-in-law (or whomever's idea this was) should be thrown in a fucking hole and fed once a week, forced to live in piles of her own excrement and sit alone all day for the rest of her miserable life...I'm not some sorta animal rights PETA type whackjob, but those pictures tell the story of one sad fucking dog. why dont you just give it to the humane society or something if its so obviously not wanted....

Err... didn't browse through the pics at first, just read the text, but now... that's so fucking wrong. People like your mother-in-law should never be allowed to keep pets, but then again, you and your wife are not the sharpest knives in the drawer either since you know what's going on and yet ignore the situation.

I have been left with many different emotions when I have read things here. This one just left me sad. This place is not abandoned. Please find a way to get these animals taken care of. It is just not right.

A mirage is not an optical illusion. It is a real phenomenon, and one can take photographs of it. The interpretation of the image, however, is up to the fantasy of the human mind.

this is really fucked up. if I had the address I would call the ASPCA.

you should do something for this animal. you live in beverly hills so you are in a position to care for this animal or do something for it.

and to post a photo like this is just wrong.. heartless.

this is not exploring, its just being an ass.

OK, its an interesting perspective on how an abandonment looks in the early stages. You've taken a lot of crap in this thread, and I just thought I'd give you some props for a different look.

That said, I'm in New Mexico. Give me an addy, and I'll go get the critters. Its getting hot here, and animals die every year from being in houses like this. Honestly, I'll find them good homes, and take care of them myself in the meantime.

Welcome to UER, and I actually do look forward to seeing more.

I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread.

I think this does give a perspective of what an abandonment is like in its early stages, (sadly).

A lot of places we've explored in which people once lived are that way because something has gone terribly wrong.

Fortunately we can probably do something about this one, (if we are looking for something positive here). So thank you for posting, and if this is not your way of asking for help, please except that which is offered out of the kindness of peoples hearts.

These animals need people to care for them, (more than being fed just once a week). Possibly its more than what their owners extended family are capable of right now. They deserve something better, I'm sure this must be a result of some kind of sudden misfortune, and the pets must be feeling not only the loss but also a sense of abandonment, that I'm sure your Wife and you brother in law are feeling right now.

RE: ....your mother-in-law (or whomever's idea this was) should be thrown in a fucking hole and fed once a week, forced to live in piles of her own excrement and sit alone all day for the rest of her miserable life...:

(I can't say truthfully that I didn't feel similar outrage upon seeing and realizing this situation) :o( I can empathise with you too. . .however. . .

This is a sad story, but don't let hostile feelings be your last thoughts on the issue just because we are too far away or don't know what to do to make this situation and thereby ourselves feel, better. It's of course natural to have those feelings when confronted with something as heartbreaking as this.

That may be close to what has happened to keep this Woman from her pets. She may be in hospital, prison, or a nursing home. Not exactly the same, but a little too similar to the truth sometimes.

I'm truly sorry for your family for whatever has happened to have things turn out like this. Don't feel to ashamed to post again on this thread. And please accept help from those of us who are able to offer it. You know it's the right thing to do, and this story can still have a happy ending.

I really hope this is not the last we hear about this story. . .

Jonsered - I'm so glad you've offered to rescue these poor animals, there should be a special star awarded if you work with this guy and manage to pull this off.

So far all I've needed to rescue are plants, fortunately I've never walked into a situation such as this, yet.

This thread is something to think about, but if anyone offers to help please let them.

Once again I'm sorry for whatever happened for things to get like this, thank you for posting, welcome to UER, and please let someone help your mother in laws poor animals.

Please give us an update!!!

The problem is that the dogs have been alone for half a year and they are still knee-deep in shit. Yeah, something might've happened to the original owner, but what's the point in maintaining status quo for so long? Even if you don't like dogs, don't let them suffer for that long. Get rid of them in a way or other.

Fed and checked on once a week?

Abandoned for 6 months already?

I'll keep this short, sweet, and as civilized as I can.

Get those pets into good homes and consider torching that place.

That is not an example of the early stages of abandonment. That is an advanced stage of neglect.

Holy Shit, I didn't read that thoroughly obviously, poor creatures. Half A Year?!?

Really something must be done, this is so sad! I'm a dog lover. I'd love to go and pick it up birds too and whatever else is suffering there, but it'd take me a very very long time to get there.

I hope someone rescues these creatures and posts photos of them happy and in their new home(s).

The only current photos are horridly sad, anyone please help these creatures.

This is really upsetting, I'm almost ready to vote for the hole idea. . .

Original poser please message Jonsered, he is willing to help, just message anyone (Me?), or call the humane society!!

This is just too much, the girl I'm with is almost in tears, and I'm feeling just, sick. . .

My wife's brother stops by about once per week to feed the animals but the house is otherwise abandoned for now.

Once a WEEK? You are telling me that dogs and cats are left there for 1 week periods to fend for themselves? I don't know about your world, but in the real world, dogs can't sustain themselves that long. They will always EAT what is in their bowl and not save some for later. Your family DISGUSTS ME! And they should be jailed and fined for animal cruelity.

Most threads are of sites that have been abandoned for longer, but this gives an idea of what an abandoned house looks like in the early stages of abandonment. I will try to get more after it's been abandoned for a longer period of time.

Abandonment in the early stages? Why weren't the animals taken with the owner?
Where in the hell is your Mother In Law?
Don't bother posting more pics, how about just the address so I can report that house to the local Humane Society!
