That would be aka infiltration. There's a whole site dedicated to it. Haven't seen a lot of it on here.

Risky, really. Active buildings tend to have more vigilant security, depending on the building you're targeting (think 9-11).

So, aside from security cameras, guards, some places requiring visual ID, etc. not a lot.

That being said, there are a number of places where walking with the right "I belong here" attitude will get you through. Perhaps lots of recon in advance would be a REALLY good idea. That and a close friend with bail money.

I was thinking a Hotel or a larger apartment building.

For the apartment, the one I want to go to, I lived there when I was young, I remember celebrating the new millennium there. I could get in by waiting around and going in after someone.

Seems like there wouldn't be a lot to see in an apartment building unless you could find a way into the mechanical areas. Those are generally pretty secure to keep the tenants out for liability reasons if nothing else.

*shrugs* worth a try, I suppose. Minimal security.

Hit up Norfolk and Warren st projects in Newark NJ, you should have nothing to worry about there, nobody will pay attention to you at all. great place to start and hone your blossoming ue skills

On Church Street, you'll find a local watering hole called Woody's and Sailor. Introduce yourself to the barkeep, and ask to speak to a fellow who goes by the name of Big Lenny. Tell him your business concerns manholes and that you don't mind getting a little dirty. You'll be down there in no time.

Is this serious?

One question: who do you look like, to other people, when you are found? Are you young? Are you dressed like you are a normal, lost person?

Being a girl, when I have a nice haircut and am bored at the hospital I often wander down hallways with ominous signs that say "off limits" etc. etc.

What are they going to do? Kill me? Arrest me? No. A quick peek in each room is enough for me. Not really "infiltration" but always have a plan of where you are supposed to be, not a vague "where is the cafeteria". Something believable. Make sure it's on the same floor you are supposed to be on, and say someone gave you directions. Perhaps you messed up the room number, or a left and right. Who knows. The particulars make you sound legitimate rather than vague half-assed "oh um I'm looking for....(whatever)."

Things like this are always easier to get away with if you are either A) Extremely elderly (They did an episode of Seinfeld on this once, "I'm old and confused!"), or B ) Extremely young, perhaps early teens and under. Or you could dress up as either of those age categories and spend weeks perfecting an accent and phony personality.

Oh, I'm sick of doing Japanese things. In jail they made us be in this dumb Kabuki play about the Forty Seven Ronin, and I wanted to be Oshi, but they made me Ori!

Maybe you could politely ask the security people to escort you to take pictures as part of a school project to take pictures of whatever you want to see.

I was going to post a topic exactly like this one, also concerning a hotel. I don't know about your location, but my find has an entirely closed off/abandoned hotel aspect, sealed off, but the banquet hall at the far end is still in use...

I've done it once, in a store that was going out of business. After a while of poking around the back rooms, security came up to me and told me to leave. I didn't argue, and took my leave. Luckily, they didn't know I had my camera with me, but I didn't get any notable shots.

a much better place if its still around, is the cabrini green apartments in Chicago. Its a nice safe place for white kids.

Good Times was based on those apartments.

since its such a nice area, make sure you bring an expensive camera.

I always get to use the fact that I'm an architecture student, and I make up a project of some sort that would be a good reason for me being there. I still get denied permission some times, though. When I get denied is when I go about sneaking in a few months later.

I generally feel that if no one locked a door, you can probably get away with being there (in most places). I haven't ever been approached by anyone, but while exploring empty buildings and utility areas on my college campus, I've always planned on using the "Oh this isn't where the bathroom is?" or "I'm looking for room 314, oh this isn't the Chem building?"

I don't know how those would pan out though.

I have been a lot of places where I am an authorized visitor and have had some down time. Lets just say sometimes you get lost when looking for the washroom or getting back to where you were supposed to be.

If you want to see hotels, go work for the local AV company on the weekends, if you wear their shirt and a pair of black pants, you can go ANYWHERE!!!
