The more sites I enter, the less I take my knife and Leatherman.

i was in a place with asbestos last summer and wore a mask.. probably was no point to the mask since it wasn't an "asbestos-approved" mask or whatever... but it made me feel safer.. lol

seriously tho, is one 2-hour exploration really that harmful? aren't dangers of asbestos more relevant if u work in that environment for 15-20 years? or am i greatly misinformed? lol

Q3. Okay, this one's for the girls.....would you pee in a broken toilet if you had to (no place to really go).....if the toilet was "clean"....I realize there aren't many girls here. Kind of an odd question but I feel that I violated some sacred UER rule. But I totally had to go!!!! I was gonna go outside but as soon as I was about to, people came down (from my group) so I hiked up my pants and they said there was a bathroom upstairs....hmmm. I had to. Am I evil? LOL!!! (just number one!)....

No.
If you are exploring, notably if it's for more than 8 hours, you are expected, as a girl, to HOLD IT. You're only a proper urban explorer if modesty keeps you from peeing in a building and you get a UTI to prove it.

(read: if you have to pee, pee. finding a toilet is typically preferable. just don't sit on it. seriously.)

Get down, girl, go 'head, get down.

Okay - a few questions!

Q1. How many of you like, actually bring a mask, and use it, most of the places you go? How many just use it if you see asbestos signs? If you do use one, do you really get new cartridges after eight hours of use?

Q2. How many of you use a handheld GPS unit to map things as you go, and find things going back?

Oh, another question - in California, does SF have an ordinance on how long a blade has to be in order for it to be considered "concealed". I have a seatbelt cutter that I carry with, but the blade is 3". However, the whole part that folds out is slightly larger, but part of it is not the blade. Does anyone have info on that subject? I know California has it's own rule of 3" or less. But cities can make their own rules harsher than that.

Anyway, just tired after a trip and I had those questions in my head.

L

Q1. I bring a mask, but in place I explore, I would worry more about mold or rat droppings that may have the Hanta virus. Still, I rarely had to use it. Asbestos is not usually a problem unless it's friable and a gust is blowing around or it's getting kicked up. At that point, bring a disposable Tyvek suit with you. Asbestos on your clothes is tough to remove.

Q2. I don't use one.

Q3. If the toilet still functions, then yes. Otherwise, go outside or hold it. Nothing blows a UE trip more than a stagnant #1 and #2 in a non-functioning toilet.

Q4. No info on SF, but I just carry a Leatherman on my belt loop.

Girls use masks. But MSP girls are WAY cooler than that and use like no masks.
GPS is for desert dogs, like me or in cities, dumbasses.
Girls of the Strategic Beer Command, pee wherever they please, toilets or no.
And even the SBC girls go with the minimum blade length of whatever the market will bear. That mean knives or otherwise.

I drink gasoline for breakfeast and beer for dinner!
Any problem can be licked with a case of beer and a few sticks of dynamite.

I don't remember the rule on a knives but I remember you can't have mace.
