| | Building? lol < on 2/5/2008 2:52 AM >
| | | So I was looking through the database... And I found a really amazingly huge and interesting drain near where I live (extremely near). And wheels started turning in my head.. I got the idea of trying to sneak building supplies in and trying to actually BUILD in some parts of this drain? Like a mini city? Or a personal get away.. Do you think this would be possible? Ideas, comments, suggestions??

| | | This is a bad idea. 1) Drains are built large for what are (usually) very good reasons. That means that they are occasionally tasked with carrying large amounts of flood water. Anything you try to build into them will either interfere with their capacity to do this, or will be washed away. 2) We get along reasonably well with Public Works in this city. They don't try too hard to keep us out, and we don't do anything to create problems for them. Please don't do anything stupid that might attract the wrong sort of attention and change how the Works people feel about us. 3) If the excitement of exploring the drain isn't enough fun for you, my suggestion is to get another hobby. You can build your little hideaway in all sorts of neat and out of the way places above ground (we've come across plenty of these while looking for drains) without interfering with vital public infrastructure.

| | | I won't crack jokes at you, but I agree it's not a good idea. Aside from the flooding and possible drowning, all your building material has the potential to clog the system. Did "Flushed Away" inspire you?

| | | Generally trees work better than drains. If you don't have trees, steal boxes from the back of a grocery store and build your fort in your living room.

NO seriously, there is so much wrong with this statement that i don't even know where to begin. best case scenario, you will be arrested, especially in this post 9/11 world we live in, and worst case you'll drown. very large volumes of water pass through drains. please think this over. | | | Dude, this rocks? Yeah, and build a city down there and then get mutants to live there and install a subway and film a tv show and call it Beauty and the Beast and make sure Linda Hamilton stars. You've got my vote! I'm with the do more drugs statement. I would imagine after the stories of flooding drains killing 2 in Sydney that no one would even think of building anything in drains. Well not seriously.
