| | | | Give me some ideas... < on 12/20/2007 5:27 PM >
| | | With 2 weeks off from work, I have a lot of idle time. The weather this week is going to be great and I want to take some pictures. Thing is, I can't think of what to take pictures of. When I just get in my car and drive around, I always find myself in the same places taking the same pictures over and over again. I wish I had some sort of photo assignment, but since I don't, I'd like some suggestions on what I should photograph this week.
I'm tired of flowers, water, bugs, and landscapes.
Give me some good ideas. Something I can actually go out and find. I don't really have anyone to explore with right now because most people work during the weekdays, and I don't like to go into abandonments alone. Therefor, give me some good ideas.
Thanks

| | | Hmm. OK, Cows. Corrals. Old windmills. Barns. Abandoned vehicles. Sunrises and sunsets. There ya go. No need for exploring partners here.
I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread. |

| | | Trains are always nice. :) I have 2 weeks off too, but it's mostly booked up. Honestly right now I can't think of anything that I would go out and photograph if I was in your spot. I know there have been some fantastic sunrises and sunsets the last few days. I got this one yesterday. And it could have been a lot better.

Hmm... old mines sounds nice.. except I don't know of any around here. As for those malls.. I've already shot Forum 303.. many times, actually. It's gone now. Houston is a little far for me right now... So is San Antonio. Those are great ideas for road trips, though.
Are all those malls closed down or something? I used to shop at Mall of the Mainland all the time. It used to be the place to be back in the day when I was in school.

I guess your right. I wish they would update site. Mines might not be the best idea if you are by yourself. I remember seeing a post about mine explorers being found dead. I think Seicer posted this last month. Another bad source of info is Abandonedbutnotforgotten.com. cool pics but thats about it.

| | | Do you photograph people often? Head downtown (or wherever there may be people hanging out) and try some street photography. Around here everyone pretty much keeps to themselves and you don't see many people out and about, but when I go down to New Orleans or Lafayette or some place like that, there's plenty of interesting scenes. Maybe you'll have better luck where you are. I've found it to be a good change of pace when I'm getting in a rut (now if only NOLA wasn't five hours away...). I'm browsing your thread for ideas too, haha. I've been in such a rut since the beginning of summer I've hardly shot a thing. I've photographed a handful of concerts and taken some shots at the barn, but otherwise I'm stuck.

| | | Awesome.. thanks for the ideas everyone. I really like the idea of shooting Santa doing different things... that sounds fun.
I got some (what I like to call) boredom pictures today. I'm gonna post a thread with them. Nothing exciting, just ... you know, boredom pictures.
So... what kind of mines are we talking about here? I never knew about them.

Yeah, and I saw something yesterday I've never seen before. Ok, everyone picks their nose at one time or another, whether they'll admit it or not. But, I saw a grown man.... a GROWN friggin' man, EAT a booger at a stoplight yesterday.

Hey, thats a good idea. Wonder if I can do it without them seeing me take their picture... I don't wanna get punched in the face or anything.
