| | B&E for the sake of exploration? < on 12/4/2007 10:11 PM >
| | | I'm just curious as to what the general opinion here is on the subject of "making your own entrance" on an abandoned site. Is it always frowned upon, even if absolutely necessary for the exploration to take place? I don't mean broken windows or anything, but if there were already broken, boarded up windows, would it be alright to remove the boarding in order to get in. I know that makes it a felony, but you're probably going to get charged with B&E anyways if you get caught/charged. So what's your view on the subject?

| | | My view is you do what feels right for you and not worry about what random people on the internet think of you. I make entrances to places almost every time I go out. They don't just appear out of thin air, someone has to do the dirty work. lol [last edit 12/4/2007 10:16 PM by ryan - edited 1 times]

| | | I've had to make an entrance once, and that was to get into a boarded up shopping mall. We walked the entire area to make sure there wasn't a way in before we took a piece of the plywood off a broken window at one of the entrances and crawled through.

| | | The best way (I beleive) to get in is to find a weakness in a secured building. Make it discreet so that people in the future have to really look to find a way in. Example: Find some loose boards, an accidentaly left unlocked door etc. Don't smash windows or break doors. Its gay.

I keep one on my keychain at all times, but it's only good on 5-pin locks that weren't made within the last year or so.

| | Re: B&E for the sake of exploration? <Reply # 19 on 12/6/2007 2:41 PM >
| | | If it doesn't involve actually breaking something (window, door, wall), but maybe unscrewing some boards, picking a lock or something like that, I see no problem. Causing permanent damage is a definite no-no.
