No, but I have seen upper-middle-class white kids who live in the suburbs and think they are tough. So I usually threaten to pop a cap in there ass, but only after I ask to see their memberships cards with the Crips.

Lots of friendly taggers and a couple of paintball games where they got mad at us for being there, but only 'cause they said the didn't want to accidentally hit us. Luckily no gangs. In fact we haven't run into any squatters yet either, though we only have started hardcore urbanex recently.

I haven't. Don't want to. I don't want to get in a fight with anyone in some empty building.

It occurs to me that if you plan on UEing alone or only with a single female companion, you should a.) develop a "what if" plan that incorporates the layout of the area/building you are in, and b.) bring a small but effective weapon that you can use from long range. If you don't have a such a thing, don't like them, or are too afraid of getting in trouble with it, then only go UEing in a group (preferably with at least one kid larger and slower than you).

OF COURSE, the first instinct you should have is to leave without confrontation. This is better for the soul, for your legal status, and for everything else I can think of.

never came upon a gang, but just recently we got chased off an abandoned air force base by some squatters with a couple dogs..it looked as if they had been there for years and were not messing around...besides that, just running into random homeless people and encampments.... I was actually going to start a thread asking if anyone ever has problems with squatters but then i saw this thread....

There was a crazy ass tweaker that was in an abandoned building looking for wiring to strip and sell. He didn't seem to mind us, as long as we weren't pillaging his pillaging area.

I saw these guys once, but luckily I had my Charzard with me and I roasted their asses.

Flame type are weak against water type, you should have use a plant-type or electric-type.

One time in an abandonment, I single-handedly murdered a gang of 16+ Crips and/or Bloods. I used only a lightsaber.

This story is false, I don't want to run into a gang, but I know some Ebonics, so I think i'd make it out alive.

Yeah, but I didn't have my Raichu with me. Even if flamethrower didn't work, he could just eat them.

Honestly I havent been doing any UE yet. I have done a lot of spelunking and to access one of the cave entrances we had to park away from the opening and walk about 1/4 mile to get to it. We parked and started walking and a group of people approached us and demanded our wallets and whatever else we had in our pockets. Now we are some fairly big guys, all of us have served in the military and have some sort of training. Still we just handed over our cash and they ran off. There was no need to be big and brave and ridiculous. All the training in the world cant stop a bullet.
My best advice is an echo of what most of the people in this thread have already said. Leave them be, if approached or confronted give them what they want. If you have a female with you then I would hope that you could and would defend her or that she could defend herself. There are some pretty bad ass women out there.

Way back in the long ago, when I was noticeably stupider than I am now,my good friend from high school and I got financially stranded in S. Miami, Goulds and Homestead specifically, close neighbors to the Liberty City riots and other colorful bits of recent American history...
S. had a nice Mongoose mountain-bike and I was riding a 10-speed I had re-built from pieces. Urban exploring w/spokes...
If you're familiar w/the lay of the land then you would know that skin color has it's invisible but verifiable go/no go zones...even in a motor vehicle. For no good reason we decided to push the limits. Pedal,pedal,pedal,pause...just like out of a movie,,an old granny on a screen porch says, "Don't let the sun set on you here white-boys." I think she was just trying to be helpful....and we really should of listened...but we didn't. Way too much pedaling later, and becoming more aware of our error,we made the final mistake of stopping at a seemingly innocent intersection...I'm pretty sure we hauled out a map,t-shirts w/bullseyes wouldv'e been equally appropriate. I doubt more than 2 and a half minutes had passed when we realized we were surrounded by a large group of black men, could've been 7,might've been 10,but it didn't matter at that point, they were coming out of the bushes and buildings.
"We really like your bikes...we wanna try your bikes..."
It sounded reasonable, given the circumstances....RWS Rolling While Stupid...and all the crew just wandered away, along w/our bikes...we took a right for S.Dixie Highway, land of the redneck and the chickenshit whitebread, and considered ourselves fortunate to have kept our wallets, blood and bones in order.
I doubt they were actually a gang, more like a standing neighborhood watch...I'd love to see the reactions of some of the self-aggrandized tuff-guys when faced w/a wall of muscle and dubious intent.
As for standing on necks flexing my pecs, yoo shud goe ryte a kommik buk. As you get older and slower, situational awareness, sound judgment ,and schmooze are some of the most valuable skills. I'm fond of my SP-101 as well, but it's not always the right thing to bring 'sploring.
That's my two cents....I've got two more to share...

I thought the Goulds thing was pretty surreal as it was happening,NH farmboy that I am,and even amusing since we didn't get hurt. I wasn't raised w/any racial prejudices,so I'm still forming them decades later. Stereotypes just save so much time, don't they?
I was 17 when I moved to Dorchester,MA to become a brain surgeon...OK,strike the last part, but Fields Corner for sure, fresh outta h-school and on my own,so Everything was exploring. After a few weeks I managed to find a job @ a beef-fat distressing factory,(..uhhh..Yuck!). I lived just below Ronan Park and above Geneva Ave...rapes,murders,gang-related run of the mill shit, apart from that, good people.
I used to take the first train to the city for work, which wouldv'e been 5:15 AM I think, still dark. South from Longfellow to Topliff, then rounding the curve onto Geneva,is a man 1/2 way out into Geneva with his hands above his head, one holding a milk-crate,screaming desperately in Spanish, pleading I'd say later...I've yet to absorb coffee, and I continue my approach, fascinated with this babbling display, then I notice 3 guys on the curb, menacing I guess, but not to me yet...the screamer throws the milk-crate into the street whereupon a van hits it and it lodges in the front running gear, van slows, then continues, yelling and shouting from all parties concurrently. By now I'm about up to them, when a fourth guy who was hanging back sticks a big wheelgun in my face and tells me to keep walking...which I did...I turned my head once and saw someone coming from shrubs w/something in their hand...then I ran all the way to the T-stop. I guess nothing happened...but here's the funny part...they were all dressed up like trannies...eyelashes,makeup,no dresses, but really...was this the Lavender Rican Fields Corner Mafia? I guess I'll never know. And what was that effeminate lad doing w/a bear gun? I'm pretty familiar w/small arms, and that was the largest I ever care to gaze down...I'm all for alternative lifestyles as long as they don't include pointing large guns in my direction...
I love Boston and the area..so much fun per sq. mile.

While i was ueing in my town we got alot of dumbass wigers who think their in a gang and think their hot shit but they dont bother me cuz there afraid ill beat the shit out of one of them like one time 4 guys tried to jump and tried to pull a knife on but instead i grabbed 2 of the guys necks with both my hands and dropped both of them on the ground and put my size ten boot over their necks and said to the 2 other guys (which did nothing to stop me) if they did'nt leave in three seconds that i'd kill their freinds( well i did'nt kill em.)if they did'nt leave so they ran away like girls while i told the other 2 if they ever try to do anything to me or someone i know that i'd kill them and thats what i did with out a gun or knife.Thats what a real man does. Not saying that you guys aren't men but thats just me oh and exscuce me for being a little to real sometimes.Really i'm just a nice and down to earth guy so that's my little story back to my ueing report.

I have ran into not "gangs" so to speak but a religious cult and not that of the God fairing type. I ran into some whacked out Satanistic "gang" while exploring an old mill. I pack the heat with me everywhere I go, and legally (concealed weapons permit). Usually the .357 on the right hip, .32 at the small of my back and a .380 in my boot. Haven't had to use any deadly force and hope not to ever have to, but...... there is always that chance. Some say paranoid, I say protected.

Play hard or die tryin.
