Jack London's Pad

A few weeks ago we went to see Jack London's pad. I'm not talking about that decrepit 1 room shack @ the square. The place he built after he got some cash in his pocket. "WolfHouse", well the remains of anyway. This once was a 26 room redwood & stone mansion. It burned to the ground just days before he was to move in. The mossy stone is beautiful and creepy, as it sits in a Blair witch like forest. Also near by is the house his wife built after he passed away. It is a small museum now. If you are in the mood for a short hike? Other cool features on the property were the remains of an old winery(no pix, a wedding in he way), His grave, & the lil house he passed away in. The small town(Glen Ellen) it was near was also charming. It made a nice day trip. Bonnie gets credit for pix. Due to a battery problem, nothing I shot came out. See album for the rest.

you missed the abandoned orchard at JLSP that once used to be part of the SOnoma Developmental Center (adjacent to the SP); it's full of very ripe apple and pear trees, some of which are very rare varieties that are now quite supple and begining to rot, even. definitely worth the walk.

there is also some really cool stuff hidden on private property on sonoma mountain, most notably the Bouverie Audobon Preserve. You will need to plan that one out with that organization, but they've got some amazing property with one of the most spectacular waterfalls you'll see around here (it's like outta a movie [though i was a kid when i saw it so maybe i'm exaggerating]).

very interested in seeing this, but the photos are kinda big and blurry. is there a link where I can see them smaller, and the rest of the set?

40+ year olds with Myspace pages are not cool, they are pediphiles on the prowl. Buyer beware.
