I think today was the end of the line for this trusty piece of shit.
I was happily snapping sub-par pictures in the forest when my shots all started turning out like this:

Anybody got a reasonable explanation for it?

In any case, I think it's time for an upgrade...

NOT TRUE!!!

I take all my pictures with a Kodak Easyshare C875, and it's awesome. My only complaint is the battery life, but otherwise I get great pictures from it. I even got good pics from my friend's 5 megapixel Kodak Easyshare camera last year.

They are good cameras I tell you.

For the most part I've had bad experiences with Kodak point and shoots. Ive never seen anything happen to what Lexi has posted, but the majority of the Kodak easy shares I've come into contact with have made great paper weights or been nothing but garbage. I worked for Best Buy from 2005 - 2007 in digital imaging and always found what other brands offered to usually (definitely not always) be superior. My two youngest sisters have easy shares (ill find out the model name) and they take decent pictures, but have horrible setting options, a delay from when you press the button to when the actual picture is taken, and horrible battery life.

Lexi, if you get a new camera, I recommend Canon's Power Shot G9, unless you decide to go with a dslr.

I agree, and those that don't agree that own one might not realize it because they haven't owned another camera.

sorry to hear about your loss, but if its any consolation, it makes a cool effect.

i owned an easyshare before picking up my rebel...and i cursed everyday that i owned it.

I had something that looked like that with a Kodak camera. I asked a geek(talented) camera guy and I get,

Cheap camera....wet, dirty locations blah blah....image sensor....CCD something.

Since I bought the thing used for basically nothing and all I really understood was pitch it and get something else because it will cost more to fix than it is worth that is what I did. Don't go on what I was told but it might give you a place to start looking.

A mirage is not an optical illusion. It is a real phenomenon, and one can take photographs of it. The interpretation of the image, however, is up to the fantasy of the human mind.

I agree that you can get some amazing shots with an Easyshare.I used one for quite awhile.

I sell cameras and everyone is interested in the new 12MP one but get discouraged because it still takes AA batteries while most have rechargeable.
I see most people buy the Powershot and the new Cascio Elixim.

Its not really a matter of the camera. If you know what your doing you can take great pictures with anything.

Nice shots! THis camera has its good and bad points. I know several how have take some really nice stuff, like this. But also know a few people who have had the camera crap out for no reason. my favorite is the Ricoh caplio r7.

I did get one cool shot just before it did go all totally wonky.. it was quite interesting.

I'm undecided as to my next move.
I'd love to move up to DSLR, but I don't know if I could sacrifice the video-taking capabilities of your average point and shoot.
In any case, it seems like I'll be camera-less until the funds suddenly appear...

and just when I wanted to get back into the groove, too.

Mine doesn't do this, but it won't zoom anymore. I haven't even had it for a year. Shoulda gone Canon...
