| | | | | | Big Guy U.E Options < on 10/26/2007 9:10 AM >
| | | Kay, I'm a fairly large gentleman, as in 6'4, and built like a football player. What's a good strategy for Urban Exploration when you're not the fastest runner, or the lightest on your feet. I'm quite curious to know places that I really just should avoid, but still want to try this out, possibly to a large extent. Opinions? -T

| | | What you need are Ninja boots... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jika-tabi ...but really, I'm a fairly big guy at 6'1, 200lbs and haven't had any real issues to date... some tight squeezes at times, but that's all. Being tall has it's advantages too like jumping fences and moving between floors of a building with a missing staircase! I really believe in scouting/researching your location before you explore it. Try to reduce the risk of ever being caught or having to 'run' for some reason. ...and practice those Ninja skills!

| | | Roofs man.... Stay on the edges of roofs if you can help it... Thats where they're usually the most structurally sound because of the walls underneath..... Of course not so close that you fall off the edge... I don't condone falling off the edge in any way....

| | | Same with stairs as with roofs- stay close to the edge near the banister as the supports are always on the sides. And with floors in general, stick to the areas between the sagging bits (being there's usually joists beneath these areas) if you can't stick to the edge of the room. Also don't second guess any opening too much- you'd be surprised what a little willpower (and some bruising) will get you to fit through.
Get down, girl, go 'head, get down. |

| | | He did... I was stuck on this steep mountain side and I was scared. If I moved I was doomed to slide all the way down, probably cutting myself on rocks and tree branches. There was nothing to hold on to, no where to gain footing. After seeing my predicament, and after taking a picture of me almost crying, he climbed over to me like it was nothing and guided me down.
True story.

| | | Just watch where you step. I'm 6'3, and getting thicker by the day. Just try and watch your step and you should be ok.

Even though I went to her rescue, does it still make me an ass that I snapped a pic of her stranded first?

| | | Awww, that's the cutest picture I've seen all day. Thanks a lot for the information, hopefully I'll be able to have a happier, safer adventure, hopefully without the falling off various objects and structures.

| | | I'm big as well, well not for much longer thanks to medical advancements. Just do what you feel you can do. Push yourself a little more each time. You wouldn't believe the windows and holes I got through. If the floor feels weak, find another route. Just like others have said, stay close to walls and be careful on stairs.
