Yup...once I ran into 4 hobos in one day. I was in Anaconda America, taking photos of the shipping area, and they came in through a side door..talking about trying to find the stash of beer one of them had hidden. I had seen it and told them where it was. They thanked me and warned be about several really dangerous areas that were in the factory, then left to collect their booze. A half hour later, I came upon another guy who was trying to get copper from an alternator. I had had some experience with scrap metal myself seeing as copper at that time was $1.55 a pound, so I gave him some tips and was on my way. The fourth guy was actually hiding from me...I came through the door he was hiding behind and started photographing some nametags on a rotary pencil tray thingy, and he said "your not a cop, are yah" I nearly screamed, but I did jump in the air...making the guy remark, "nah yer no cop..." We talked for a little while and then parted ways.

SO all in all, I say that problems with hobos mainly depend on where you live.

So, basically what you are saying is that you are a thieving pikey bastard who nicked copper from abandoned sites?

Being a copper thief isn't the best thing to mention around here.

What about being a hobo thief? Can we steal them? Ok, maybe we can just take steal their hearts. And the rest of their vital organs while we're at it. I've heard the street price on 38 year old's kidney can be close to five grand. Screw $1.55 a pound, the average human kidney is only a quarter of a pound, so if you're going by weight I'll take $20,000/lb over a buck fitty any day...

Shh, this goes on all the time in the third world. The wonderful thing is that organs do a world tour because the largest market (US) don't really want to be asking hard ethical questions.

That's right organs go from south America (mostly) through the Netherlands and back to needy white folk in the US. What's wrong with that? I thought humans lived on a continuum class scale....

Weren't we talking about the homeless..? I guess some people have value this way.

Precisely! My point was that if one could not only cut out the middle man, but find a local source for the product, the profit margin would increase drastically. Not to mention once you've cut the middle man, you also increase your production so it's a win win situation.

Potential customers connected to machines under general anesthetic don't tend to ask that many questions. Don't ask, don't tell. Some consumers may get all up in arms when they hear a major store is buying their products from overseas sweatshops. Those same consumers also give interviews in those store's parking lots with bags of guilt in their arms to plastic television reporters explaining what a shame it is that those poor kids have to work for so little money, and then they drive 25 miles home in their SUV. They feel better when they have ethics to talk about, just not when they have to live by them. These same consumers need organs. That big mac for lunch each day goes very nicely with a side order of a new heart.

Consumers have no ethics. If they did, they wouldn't be consumers. Hobos have ethics. Sometimes knives. Often booze. Always a malodorous aroma. Occasionally intimate knowledge of a location. But you're right. Their true value lies in their possession of lots and lots of market ripe organs, ready for the pick'n!

sarcasm? maybe.

You would not believe some of things I've heard of the gross abuses of power physicians have done, taking advantage of people who are not cognizant and have no next of kin....

Back in my younger years when I was living under bridges and in parks and rooftops around Boston, there used to be these white vans from some biotech company that would drive around, only in the wee hours of the night, and often park in front of homeless hot spots. There were a lot of people who just weren't around anymore back then. Sure some probably moved on, or died from some more natural cause, or ended up in jail, or any one of so many other potential explanations for their sudden vanishing, but those vans just didn't need to be there. Maybe they were dumping toxic chemicals into alleys and dumpsters and drains behind restaurants, but it always seemed like something didn't add up. I wasn't the only one who saw the vans, and their suspicious activities.

I guess we can still take solace in the fact that in the US when they put the bag over your head and start cutting, you'll be in the back of a nice chevy cargo van, and not some dirt floor of a hovel somewhere. I know I feel much safer now.

I once gave a hobo with gnarley dreadlocks $2 and he said he loved me. It is a good idea to carry sandwiches, beer, or cigs so you have something to give them.

I had my first ever homeless encounter yesterday. We were exploring an abandoned Purina feed mill, which we go to alot, when we came across an open door which led no where other than a 15 ft drop to the train yard outside. I shined my light around beneath and discovered two homeless guys chillin on the ledge 15 feet below me. I had a brief conversation with them from up there, and then we went on with our exploring.

never actually had to use mine. I always keep smokes on me, never cash, and that usually gets them to talk to you. Ive even had one tell me about this history of a location and how to get in.

I did have one close call, and almost brought out the bear mace because a bum though i stole his soul when i snapped a photo of him and kept on trying to grab my camera when i was backing away.

i've come across homeless people many times ,but not while ue. Sometimes i gave them some coins just like other people did , and sometimes i just walked them without doing anything .
Among these hobos ,two impressed me a lot ,coz i have seen them many times . one was talking himself all the time while kept walking all the time, the other was always siting on the ground , not saying a word.
anyhow, these people are very pitiful.

Bear mace, while it would seemingly be more powerful than human mace, actually isn't. It just shoots farther and the bottle contains more.... Human mace is actually a lot more potent in most cases. Most bear mace is only 2% capsaicin, while human mace can be up to 18%. That being said there is one bear mace that's 15%.... Guard Alaska....

Anyway, shooting a can of bear mace off in an enclosed space is probably a bad idea, but I suppose better than getting robbed and raped by a bum/squatters/scrappers/cops.

Yes, I too have found bear mace works rather nicely against cops when they're trying to rape you.

yea, i talked to the guys at REI and they set a can off trying to be funny... they were closed for the rest of the day while the building had to air out.

the main reason why i have it is for the distance and that it holds a lot more.

Yea, it certainly feels alot safer to have a can of mace the size of a lysol container. Those dinky little ones just don't feel as good in the hand. Another good thing is dog mace...
I was maced myself with dog mace... It was one of the most memorable (pain wise) experiences ever....My buddy thought the can had a safety, not realizing that just clicking it to the side WAS the safety.. He tried to scare me by fake shooting it and ended up macing me instead... I was completely incapacitated for at least 20 minutes, had to keep my head underwater in a sink.. The next day I had black eyes when I woke up...serious shit!

Anyway, if you want good bear mace, like I said, Guard Alaska is the way to go, it'll even fire off in sub zero temps, and is the only mace rated for every type of bear, even polar bear, although I wouldn't wanna be the one testing that out...
