| | | | Old Lady's House in Germany < on 6/19/2007 1:27 PM >
| | | I found out this house was empty about a year ago, I knew it before cause it is actually a 2 minute walk from my house over to the street where it stands and I remember I had noticed a little candle burning at the upper window back then while the rest of the house always used to be dark. I always imagined an old lady living there and I found it I was right now that I explored it. There were a bunch of letters that had been written to her and all personal things and furniture left in there. The main entrance door was open but had a solid locked steel gate over it keeping people out (it probably was already used for that purpose when someone still lived there), I saw the ground in the entrance room was covered in buttons of various sizes for some reason. But as I walked around the house I noticed that there were stairs leading to the basement, all doors open, and the same inside, so I could just walk up to the actual living-area from the cellar.
I liked the place cause it had a lot of history right there, the letters, the books of the lady who lived there and her name reappearing somewhere in them. It kind of really got me when I read this letter where a friend she met on a vacation wrote about her "lovely little garden". It's a pity it has been destroyed a lot and it will probably not be there for very long anymore, they are going to build something at the spot the neighbours told me. The room where the candle used to be had a very cosy atmosphere, it's the one with the open balcony-door and the book next to it, especially the dandelion growing on the balcony was nice. This side of the house by now is almost entirely grown over by wine. Lucky I got some footage on film out of there, the pictures were taken by a friend of mine. I will post a link to the video when I cut it, still didnt touch it.
But there's two different kinds. There's bad asbestos, and there's nice asbestos. Anyway, it grows on you. |

http://cat.org.au/~predator/approach.txt There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part; you can't even passively take part, and you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop... |
