| | | i bring a rocket launcher with me whenever i go exploring, takes care of all the welded doors, keeps the people living in the area in line, thats what i would suggest. no but seriously... try to find a way around the door, windows other ways into the building, most of the time there is a much easier way inside than messing with welded doors... good luck!!!!

| | | ACID! Canadians can get it at Canadian Tire. Put it in a plastic spray bottle and spray it in on the weld, go for a coffee when you come back hammer, done.

| | | Just find another way in and if there is no way in form the ground get on the roof there is always an entrance on the roof(or else you can make one). My 2 cents.

Muriatic acid Available at your typical hardware store. Safer, and will get the job done. Just put it in a plastic spray bottle and squirt that crap on there, and you will be all set. Give it time, go grab coffee, come back in 30 minutes and just tap it with a hammer

That's what you do with the Picric acid. too, but you don't have to wait! Muriatic acid is great for cleaning concrete too.
It's tough to argue with seasoned pros like this, but that sizzling acid is noisy and really attracts attention as does the detonation of HEs. Junkyard's prolly right, use a bulldozer, sometimes the old fashioned methods are the best.

| | | I am a certified machinist and have been a metal fabricator/welder for the past 6 years. A good weld is stronger than the steel it is welded to, depending on the welder's skill and cleanliness of the metal upon welding. Just because a door is welded, does not mean you cant go through it. I have met some "professional" welders who make shit welds that break if you fart on them. With these kinds, you can usually gain access with just a hammer, but some people make some pretty beastin' welds. For these you would need something with a little more hair on the peaches. How the door is constructed/welded determines what tools you use. Sometimes a hacksaw would work, othertimes you need a oxy-acetylene torch. The battery powered grinders i have seen mentioned are ok, but they make A LOT of noise and shoot a shower of sparks, both of which are bad when trying to remain unnoticed. I would only use one of those as a last resort. Ideally, I would take my plasma cutter. It has a 1 1/2" solid steel cutting capacity (WOOT!) however most abandoned places dont have the 230 volts-50 amps it needs for power. The next best thing would be the oxy-acetylene torch. They are portable, fast and quiet. And relatively cheap. $300 will get you started with a torch and a pair of 20 cu. ft tanks. They will probably last about an hour depending on how hardcore you have to get. Never try to cut right on the weld unless it is a short one. Welds are usually thicker and harder than the surrounding steel. If the weld goes all the way around the door, it would be easier to cut through the door itself. Use your best judgement on how to handle the cuts. The less you have to make, the better. Most doors have a weakness. Some are bolt- in, where they are bolted to the wall. A 99 cent wrench could get you in there. Others can be removed just by taking out the hinge pins. Just remember, the more basic the plan, the better.

You mean you haven't tried taping a pill to the door yet? I haven't tried the drug, but sometimes its fun watching others trip. My friend and I were walking through town one night and he freaked out thinking that we were being chased by vampires. I had to coax him out from his hiding place in a dumpster afterwards.

I would highly recommend staying away from LSD, I am 30 now, I do no drugs, never really did any as a kid, not even pot. But I did do Acid once, in my life, 1 and 1/2 hits. It was the worst feeling of my life, I was restless, felt dirty, and very depressing. Although I was very possesive of a broken super soaker. So that joke is still out there today. But yeah, if you haven't done it, don't. And if you do, stop Wait how did this topic turn into a drug related conversation... Let's get back to breakin welds!

| | | What I have done to get into drains in the past is bring with you a car jack. I know this sounds strange, but they have quite a lot of power to them. Simply slide one of those newer style expanding jacks between the bars and open the jack up. As you turn the handle it will slowly make the jack open up and bend the metal enough so you can squeeze through.

| | | Those tanks won't last an hour unless you do more drinking than cutting.........some guy told me. | Its been done before. It all depends on how thick the metal is and how smart you are with the usage. Most people i have seen just go ape shit and have the regulators wide open even on a peice of 1/4" plate when the torch is set up for 3." Just to clarify, Im talking 20 Cu Ft tanks. Not the tiny 1 Cu Ft tanks you get at home depot for a whopping $8 something apiece. 1 hour would probably be the maximum use you would get out of 1 tank. However, as much as I like burning metal, it would almost always be easier to find another way in and to cut through a door as a last result. All of this stuff is a pain in the ass to carry around and people who have welded doors are more likely pretty serious about keeping people out. If you get caught bustin' through someones expensive welded door, no amount of politeness or excuses will get you off the hook. Find another way if you can.
