P.S White Rabbit take peoples I have watched u post pics from behind a house before,

You know what? What the fuck is with this bashing where I've taken pictures stuff?

1. I've taken pictures in riskier and crazier places than 99% of the people on this forum.

2. I've had to pull most of it because I've been threatened with lawsuits literally more than anyone on this forum.

3. Both you and Ryan would know this if you had been around here a little longer.

Jesus, seriously. "You don't post pictures from hardcore places!" I mean, seriously, not only isn't it true, but it's retarded.

dont just use the P mode on the camera, try the fully manual settings as from what I can see you are either using P or auto and telling the camera to bracket the image.

*sigh*

No, it was not P mode. It was manual mode. It was like f4.0, with an exposure starting at 30" and ISO 400 and going down one EV stop for five pictures.

read a book, set up the camera on F22 on a 1 min exposure the F22 will stop the overexposing on the bright bits adn help to keep the whole image in focus.

Let me just say this for the millionth time. I believe you're underestimating how dark it was.

For starters, my camera doesn't bulb exposure, so the highest I can go is 30". But, I'm about to show why I don't think it would matter anyway.

I took a test photo when I was down there at f8.0 at 30". It was almost completely pitch black with only the reflection on the water really visible.

So, I'm relatively certain that a picture taken at f22 for 60" would be almost as bad.

(Hey. I can't see those two pictures you posted, because the work firewall blocks that site. You'll have to post them on here for me to look at them.)

I did, however, just look at your site, specifically at your Underground and Drains pictures section.

And as of right now, I am no longer taking anything you say seriously. Because your pictures look like ass. Seriously. Several pages of smeary-light painting pictures. They're horrible. My crappy flash pictures that I took with my old point and shoot look better. I don't even know how you've got the nerve to be in here criticizing anyone else after seeing those.

have u seen the images u post, I rest my case you are an idiot who cannot accept when he is wrong. YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY THAT HAS BEEN PROVEN TIME AND TIME AGAIN WHEN U POST SHIT IMAGES AND POOR ATTEMPTS AT HDR WHEN HDR SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN USED.

as for my images being shit well that is personal opinion as for them being smeary light painted images, well yes I do use light painting, but it looks a damn sight better than most of the shit u post.

So, image compression explains all these huh?

Yeah, uh... I challenge anyone to look at those pictures and tell me this guy has any business telling anyone they don't know anything about photography. Because those pictures were grabbed pretty much at random off his site. They're all that bad.

But you know what? I make no bones about the fact that I'm a crappy photographer. There's tons of terrible pictures on my site. But I wouldn't have the nerve to come in here and criticize someone else knowing that I'm a crappy photographer.

But... I'm still not going to say you guys are right when I know you're not just because I don't know much about photography. You and Ryan and whoever can keep saying I could've taken the same picture with a single exposure. And you'll still be wrong. You can know photography better than anyone in the world--you'd still be wrong.

You think the picture sucks? Great, I accept that. But you cannot take that same picture without additional light sources, huge amounts of photoshopping, or blowing out or underexposing parts of it. You just can't. I don't know crap about photography, but I know that much.

I agree with Ryan look at my westbourne images for examples of doing this without using HDR.

These are the images he's talking about:

Am I crazy in thinking my "cheating HDR" looks better than any of those images?

That is the cutest thing I have seen in days!!!

Alias, he's already said he didnt know anything about photography, and apparently you really don't either. Give it up. This is stupid. WR, IGNORE him. He doesn't know anymore than you.

And everybody else, if you look at the picture, you can tell that it can't be done with single exposure. You weren't there, so you can't be telling him that it could be. I wasn't either, but you can look and tell! Come on now. I've seen much worse pics on here than this one.

Jesus, this whole thread has been ridiculous. I just wanted some critiquing of the photograph. What I could've done better, what I shouldn't have done, how to make a better HDR, etc. I so don't mind harsh criticism either.

But if you tell me something that I know isn't true (that I could've taken pretty much the same photograph just by tweaking my camera settings a bit more), I'm going to disagree with you. Maybe I could've taken a smeary light painting with a bright flashlight. Maybe I could've taken a similar (but different) picture with a bunch of additional light sources placed through the tunnel. But the same picture? No. You could not have.

But if a couple of thin-skinned guys with chips on their shoulders are going to get COMPLETELY hysterical when I tell them they're wrong, that's getting pretty ridiculous. I mean, going nuts about how I'm not a hardcore explorer? Well, not only isn't it true, it's sad that anyone even went there in an argument.

And SCREAMING in all caps about how I know nothing about photography? What the fuck? Seriously. Get a grip.

And if you're going to lecture someone about photography in the most elitist and condescending way possible, your pictures better be amazing. From what I can see, that isn't the case here.

not sure if I have made this clear or not but, I like it. ^_^
It looks 100x better than my hdr's i try to do.
(You've seen how i get done... don't worry about it.)
But I like it the way it is, much better than the single exposure. So yeah. Flaming you is not gonna help your photography at all, so ignore that and focus on the constructive things that are said.
I <3 WR!!
