Haven't put any pics on the critiques board for a while. But I have a good reason to post these ones. I shot my first ever roll of film the other week, on my eBay purchased Nikon FM, I only had a 50mm lens so all pics taken using said lens. I was pretty happy with some of the pics. Here's a few, location is a London Storm Relief Sewer.

What kind of film/what ASA were you using? Looks to be maybe 100 as a guess.

| | | | Nice work. I love that bizarre skeleton thing in the first pic. There are a lot of advantages to film. I won't list them here now, or pretend to know all. (In summary tho, I mean latitude, and image quality per money spent) I bought new Nikon FM's and FE's when they came out in the early 80's. They have NEVER let me down. Including the MD 12 Motor Drive if you keep the terminals clean, and the bats fresh. And that noise grows on ya.
In all honesty, I'm very tempted to go for a D 80, and likely will this year sometime. But guess what? NPH 400, or whatever they call it now, gives a better result! I'm talking a 16X20 ready for exhibition print. Wish I was wrong, and pls tell me how the quality (Megabites) (10.2 I think) translates to a well exposed piece of film on NPH 400, which is as good as the old Reala 100 I was addicted to for years. And without six hours in the Photo Shop Asylum trying to make it purdy! And if you want even better quality, slow transparency film is worth experimenting with.
Also, it's nice not to have lab techs see work, or places, you might want to keep private. Advantage digital.
So eventually I'll get a digital. Must say though, had many years of exceptional lab work done in Vancouver with no problems. Unfortunately not the same here. The best lab in a bigger city will likely have to have higher standards. A good lab is like, holy, or Guinness or something. Enjoy your great old camera, pardon my rant.

i like them. well composed for the most part.
last one = win.
the only complaint i have is that the last one looks better centered, and they need contrast/shadow adjusted to make the white parts white and the black parts black.

Which is a roundabout way of saying that I wish the person was a bit sharper in the last one. Nice light though, and aside from the fact that the colour balance is a bit off and they're a bit flat, they're all well-composed, well-lit shots. Better scans would probably help these quite a bit, I'm sure there's some details on the negs in those blown-out parts that just didn't show when the neg/print was scanned.
Welcome to the film world, and careful with that camera - they don't make parts for that one anymore, although if you ever upgrade to the fm2, they still make parts for that.

I won't be dumping digital entirely, but certainly will be shooting more film stuff.
These were shot on Fujicolor Pro 160C, daylight neg.
got a few more rolls of it ready to go!

I believe I've used this in 120 form. Fuji is nice, and much cheaper and easier to find online then kodak (which I also like). I'm currently trying NPZ 800iso which has minimal grain and I rated it 640iso. Try fooling around with the iso, it can make your images much punchier which I think would look great on what your photographing.

Yeah. That's all good! I've been hunting around for a 20mm or something there abouts since purchasing the body! One of the only things that niggled me about a good few of my shots was the iffy focus, most shots were pretty near to infinity but as I had it reasonably wide open the results were not so sharp where I'd have liked. Thanks for the advice, really appreciated!

the lighting in #1 is very good.
the shadow in #2 makes it for me. without the shadow it would just be ok.
in #3 i wish it was more a silhouette.
