Utica, Westchester, An Arrest, More...

hello,
i am from utica, ny. i go to school at SUNY Purchase, in westchester county.

i have so much to say...
first of all, i didn't expect this website to exist, and i'm quite wary of where it will take me. i was recently arrested at my college for exploring dorm/administration buildings. i am not in a situation to do much illegal, and am in even less of a situation to get caught.

i've grown up in and around utica, i find myself writing these mini-biographies a lot lately. always explored buildings, trains, houses, etc. sort of a voyeur i guess. like many of you. the rust, the decay, the ghost in machines. it all ties in, it makes me feel more alive than i have before, i understand something. recently i've been trying to find out if i can make a career of it in some way.

i also make music, electronic and hip-hop compositions, similar to el-p, amon tobin, etc. it's brought me to many strange places, many i think fondly of. it's better to be on a rooftop than many other places i can think of. stretching towards the sky. i would like to share my music with you all at some point. when i get my act together.

i look forward to keeping an eye on this site.

But this is really a prime example of why you shouldn't take anything with you if you except things like a camera and the likes. I hope you come out of this without anything that bad happening to you.

What are you trying to say, I'm crazy?
When I went to your schools, I went to your churches,
I went to your institutional learning facilities?! So how can you say I'm crazy?!

Boonville here; smarten up.
Patriot act, no, stupidity, yes.

I'm never sending my kids so school for this reason; they aren't there to learn jack dick except to become good communists and think a six figure job should be handed to them for studying ..... ENGLISH. Fuck that.

Wisen up and realize that there are consequences for your actions.

you sound like an asshole, first of all. and don't give me shit for saying that, because you obviously set out to write that post like you were an asshole. boonville...explore some forests. (i do know what boonville is like and have explored some amazing buildings there).

my friend was stupid, yes. but i have read a number of posts on here about how our rights are becoming thinner and thinner. cops don't need to be so courteous these days, they're all protecting national security or whatever. when the cops picked us up and found that camera they had to ask us how to turn it on. we're in a lucky point where administration of all kinds has the technology to fuck everyone, but not sufficient training to use it. i'm dealing with my thing, i've already gotten a lot of info about how i can be smarter in the future, etc etc.

i'm a music student, which inherently means i will struggle through life (or become sickeningly painful). i did not join to have my father give me shit about my choices.

'Dukes is a very opinionated person, it's just how he does. The only thing he said that was slightly odd to me was that I sounded like "Barry White".

What's your favorite place to explore in utica? Im from there as well.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

i haven't found anything more beautiful than the old paint store downtown, during winter, esp. when the snow falls through the whole in the roof onto the showroom floor.

i've also spent hours sitting in those adirondack scenic railways cars on the tracks, if the moon is out and i feel romantic like that, haha.

Yeah, 'Dukes was an asshole to you, but only because you sound like an unbelievably self-righteous douchebag. There have been so many new members on here lately, and many of them are just a waste of space. Members have to prove themselves to be worth our time. So far you've whined about being caught and bitched at those that have been around far longer than you.

...because UER is the definitive source on all things political. Cops have never had to be courteous, and they're not looking out for our best interest. As far as dealing with every-day cops, the Patriot Act has not changed much of anything.

i'm a music student, which inherently means i will struggle through life (or become sickeningly painful). i did not join to have my father give me shit about my choices.

Ah...music. Look forward to a boring life of sending your weak demos to people who don't want to hear them while you slowly whither away in your own self-loathing. On the bright side, you can look forward to the day when you realize how pointless it all is and just end it alone in a dingy apartment in downtown Utica.

'Dukes wasn't trying to be your father. He had years of experience compared to you, who have probably been doing this for a couple of months. That's the whole point of this board: sharing information and advice. And if someone does something unbelievably stupid, we'll tell them. Most of the time, it ends up screwing over everybody, not just you. When an explorer does something stupid and gets caught, most often security will be increased at the site and they'll keep a closer eye on things. This hurts everyone.

Way to make a great first impression.

Brind and 'Dukes are assholes. Why are you people on the rookie forums anyways? These things were set up so that these noobs wouldn't get flamed for saying stupid things, however lame that is. These people are new and know nothing. Ugh, why do I come here?

I come here because I don't mind helping the new members. However, when the new members come here with an attitude like this one, I see no reason why I should be civil to them.

it's not really something that matters to me much. i won't be living a shitty life and i never really cared to tag one of my hobbies as "UE" in the first place. still don't. if you like, you can listen to the music that comes out of me, oh-so-presumptuous, if you were anyone who cared though you'd have investigated my profile that much.

either way, i'm not looking for an award, and i do know how inflated message boards can make certain peoples' egos. i know i didn't post anything incendiary, i was just writing my experiences like everyone else. past is past, though.

furthermore, yeah. i edited my initial post. to fill you in, when i was caught, my friend had a digital camera on his person. it had a lot of pictures that were used against me when i was suspended from school. not smart, but then again there were things on my person that were not smart, either. i'm in a bit of a tight financial situation, but it was also a great learning experience. i'm pretty young, have a long way to go. i've met some very amazing people through all this, train hoppers, photographers, people with outlandish philosophies on how life should be lived.

you have to understand that i'm here because i want to be here. any certain member's number of posts or status on a website isn't what impresses me. the photos and idea that people have found this to be such an identifying interest...

that interests me.

i think we'd all get along better if we were to meet in person. let's keep that in mind.

Ok fine. You edited your post and now no one has any idea what is going on here. It is great that you share a passion in what has everyone coming here. You have posted in the rookie forum. Great place to start. Wish it had been here a year ago when I came on scene. May have saved me from a few embarrassing moments.

Anyhow since you are here step back and take a breath and not get so uptight. Spend a little more time looking around before you get so twisted. Reading through a few more posts you get to know how people respond around here and get to know them a bit more. Then after awhile you can decide to stay, welcome aboard or leave, have a nice life hope you find what you are looking for.

So tag your hobbies as you please but don't walk in and get all snarky. It will not attract much more than you got.

A mirage is not an optical illusion. It is a real phenomenon, and one can take photographs of it. The interpretation of the image, however, is up to the fantasy of the human mind.

Interesting first post(s). You seem to have things all backwards. You comments to 'dukes is a perfect example of how to win friends. A few more arrests might straighten you out; don't blame the cops, or us for your ignorance.

B&E is really frowned on here, especially if you get caught. It's a felony you know.

I have to agree with prometheus. This is the place to let us noobs be noobs. Drop in and give advice, not just flame us. That doesnt help in any way. It would seem to actually harm you. We get mad at you. Do something stupid, get caught, the site is watched closer.

Well here's some great legal advise then. Prowling, and B&E in to any inhabited residence including a dorm or hospital is seen as a separate charge in many penal codes, and it is a serious one. It's the kind of thing rapists and burglars do. Harsh words are better than jail time.
