I think the lawsuits would outweigh the advertising revenue...Some poor grip wearing a foam rubber costume jumps out at me, I break his collar bone, his wrist, light his costume on fire and pitch him down a 100' missile silo half full of etheyl alcohol and destroy half the county - that'd be a pretty pricey stunt.

Pricey, perhaps. But just imagine how it would look on TV!

The mine is Minos Dos Estrelles, and it is way the fuck down in southern Mexico, very hard to get to. Of course, if you guys want to get together an expedition, I'd be happy to go.

In order to be on the show, you guys would definately have to act clueless, there is no way they would knowingly allow one of us on the show.

So, is the propensity for violence another common urban explorer trait? :p

I never saw the show but...
Mines in Mexico, that sounds like a great expedition.

Oh, and I for one, have long since overcome my propensity for violence.

It's not quite Southern Mexico, It's in Michoacan. That's North of Mexico city. Morelia is the nearest large city. I don't know where the mine is, exactly.
Mexico has tons of Mines, Caves, Old Ruins. Very easy to live out any childhood Indiana Jones fantasies.

Hmmm, I'm not at home, but I will be later tonight, hopefully, and I will give you specifics then. I am pretty sure it's actually south of Mexico City, not that it really matters.

Well, the MTV web site didn't say the name of the state. Just the city it's lacated. But it was enough to google this. http://www.mindat.org/loc-10799.html
You're right, it doesn't matter whether it's North or South of Mexico city. Except that if it's somewhere near Oaxaca, Mexico City or Yucatan, I can get a place to stay with no problem.

I only get violent when people in foam rubber costumes jump out and try to grab me - I'm a pretty laid back guy 99.9% of the time - guys in cosutmes and chuds - I hate chuds.

Minos Dos Estrellas is near Tlalpujahua Mexico, so you were right on SIC, the hacienda was farther south.

You have to fly into Mexico City and either take a puddle jumper or trek your way to the mine site, no easy task. But hey, I am game.

The project is in the news, and they make it sound like it's definitely going to happen.

From the article:
- An adventurous, dynamic, structural engineer --interest in urban exploration & archeology is a plus.
- A hip, buff female rock climber/extreme athlete
- A dynamic, young caver
- A quirky cutting-edge electronics whiz.

This sounds like it's definately going to be bad...I mean how many of us here are actually structural engineers? These types of people that they're looking for will more than likely not be UErs. Although some of may share in these activities asking for a rock climber is a bit much. I mean where are they going?

Not to mention the places they will more than likely go to will be those that either they have 100% legal access to or are weird caves and the like that anyone can get to with knowledge of where they are.

All in all this sounds horrible

Then they aren't going UEing. UE is almost always tresspassing, which is illegal.

Well, I agree that it is more fun if you trespass, but I have been in some cool places legally. By legally I mean, I signed a waiver so that if a building collapsed on top of me the owners of the building wouldn't be legally responsible.

Not all places have really strict trespassing laws. From everything I have seen, draining and a few other activities are completely legal here in Iowa, until you are told to leave.

That completely compromised the basis of UEing...

It's more like having a guided Tour it sounds like to me, than actually exploring.

I dunno perhaps when more information is uncovered I can make more intelligent of a comment.
