| | | http://danspapers....r/leadarticle.html Turns out their was a massive underground subway in the Hamptons that until recently no one knew about. What a discovery that would of been. to bad no one got in some good exploration before the city found it. EDIT: PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A FICTION WEBSITE [last edit 7/11/2006 12:30 PM by Avatar-X - edited 1 times]

| | | What ?!? Is this thing for real? How Could years go by without someone noticing something like that?!? Did we (Cincinnati) just lose our distinction of home of America’s largest never opened subway? To read more about ours: http://www.cincinnati-transit.net/ The most complete Cincinnati transit infrastructure page on the net. It has some great photos.
The personal responsibility train left the station years ago, and you gave it the finger as you watched it leave. |

| | | Sweet. It'd be cool to ride a subway that used to be abandoned. I know I'd enjoy it. The architecture would be interesting to study.

| | | This is rather funny but. . . . . *You do now this is a joke, right? *The 'Hamptons Subway' is an urban legend and an inside joke. *Sorry but there is no such thing as the 'South Fork Subway' nor the 'Hamptons Transportation Authority.' *Google either item and it will come back to the same 'Danspapers' article. *Fascinating food for thought though - a lost subway would be an amazing find!

| | | Not being from New York, I know very little about the subway or even where the "Hamptons" is. However, the article seemed very fishy when I first read it -- strange, contradictory information. So I did some basic searches. The only place these names appear is in this "Dan" guy's paper, and the name he gives for who built the NYC subway is a fake name. Don't you think a discovery as big as this would be in at least one newspaper? Also, do you really think the Hamptons could be developed without them finding these hidden tunnels? It's a very nice piece of fiction, but that's all it is.

| | | Yeah, I was wondering why I did hear this annoucement from Pataki about the MTA creating the Hamptons Transportation Authority I knew it could not be true beacause if the MTA created another division, it would have to pass state legistlators here in Albany, which I would of heard of

| | | I kind of thought that someone would have remembered it being built ,some of the oldest people I know remember ours being built, or they remember their parents talking about it. It just didn't seem plausible that you could lose something that big. To have it wiped from everyone's collective memories, especially long time residents and city/county workers seemed even more far fetched, but having never been to the Hamptons, it seemed like a possibility albeit a remote one. Oh well, wishful thinking, at least Cincinnati keeps it’s title.
