A couple of pointers: less is more, and taking pictures of black people through the window of your car is ultra-lame.

| | | To be very honest- your shots are hit and miss, but more often miss. The awesome pieces include: #5- overgrown greenhouse #18- wireframe chair clusterfuck #25- superimposed girl and windows #28- rusty factory bits #35- gear guts #36- plants and windows #37- faucet (actually looks entirely unlike your other stuff) Resize your photos, and don't necessarily post a shmillion of them. I appreciate the enthusiasm to share, and you have a few neat things there, but blurry shots of hallways, black people, syringes, and college beer chugging photos on a dusty floor are old hat. nice overall variety, but be more aware of composition and lighting (and maybe try out a tripod or a trusty ledge or stick to reduce blur.)
Get down, girl, go 'head, get down. |

I'm on a government backbone and these are taking forever to load. Good lord. You might have some good ones in there. I got tired of looking, though. [last edit 7/11/2006 2:19 PM by yokes - edited 1 times]

my baad as you see its my first thread on here, sorry for the large quantity, i come from forums where everyone wants to see as many pictures as possible, cuz theres so much of a tendancy on those boards for people to start bitching about anything. and ill keep the rest of those in mind even though they come from a banned member...

what was this, "abandoned frat house"? seriously, post like 5-10 well considered photos, and try not to post any that are completely blurry crap. and yeah, taking pictures of black people out your car window is very lame.

I can guarantee you he was not banned because of trying to establish guidelines for posting photographs in the critique forum. Seriously, a few strong pictures will gain you far more credibility than posting as many as possible. Take some time to look at the threads in this forum to see which ones get good responses and which don't. Sorry to have everyone on your case after your first post, just keep those guidelines in mind for the future. Pirate.

| | | Uhmmm, as far as I can see he took a picture of a couple of interesting people hanging around outside, who happened to be black. I would probably have taken the same picture, if they were black, white, asian, jewish, whatever: these guys look like they are upto something and it's the intrigue surrounding that idea that makes the picture for me. If there is anything racist in this thread; it's the concept that the picture was taken purely on the basis of the subjects colour, and it certainly wasn't the photographer who brought that up!
Chris...
We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit. |
