| | | That place is RAD. Seriously, thats one of the holy grails of urbex. You could spend days exploring there. But I wouldn't recommend it.

| | | Yeah I was reading about it today in the Star. It is the Holy Grail of UE. However it is guarded by Military who will shoot first, then ask questions. And if that doesn't kill you the radiation will. However they do offer tours of the zone, for a price, and that includes all the required protective gear.

| | | From what I remember, the last time they went inside the reactor and took video, it was understandably very hot inside. But outside wasn't bad. If that was the case I would be dead by now from the 100+ atmospheric tests at the NTS.

| | | I'm going to visit Pripyat next year. 10-hour tour, including lunch and transportation to the exclusion zone from Kiev costs $344/180/137/107/89/77/68 for 1/2/.../7 or more persons, and the airfare from Helsinki to Kiev and back is around 300 euros. Cheap, 500 euros should do fine. [last edit 4/19/2006 1:59 PM by Tupsumato - edited 2 times]

| | | It looks like an absolutely amazing place to UE, and i guess the upside is that it will be abandoned for a very very long time. Really is an amazaing opportunity for a long term study of building decay through photography, assuming the radition from the repeate visits doesn't kill you.

| | | Chernob'l is to the UEx what is The Mecca for the islam, or the Vatican for the catholics, or ..... well, it's the great temple The only issue is that's a level 99 difficulty explo. But I think there'll be a day when all of us make an expedition to there (with all security measures, of course) But before I think it's better to explore what I have here, in Barcelona! In the city there's not opportunities to find abandoned buildings that aren't locked up to the paranoia or full of squatters.... Uh, that last thing it's offtopic! greetz!

I think it's not level 99 if you take the tour. Of course, visiting the area without permission would be rather... hardcore.Since you live in Barcelona, it's quite easy and cheap to reach too, since Ukraine is not on the other side of the world. I'd stick with Gunkanjima as the holy grail of Urban Exploration abandoned places. /offtopic

Impossible. Will not happen. Don't even dream about it. Nada. Niet. You cannot infiltrate Pripyat. Nada. Doing so would be entering using ninja skills and some invisible suit in the middle of the very radioactive woods, far from the control stations for the deadzone, while all the police & staff from the control posts are peeing at the same time. WILL.NOT.HAPPEN. And even if you WOULD get through the security checkup points without being seen (which I doubt is possible), you'd still have 30 km to walk to get to Pripyat. You'd get caught before even seeing the town far away at the horizon. Maybe you thought about entering the death zone with a motorcycle??? All that without being noticed??? Forget it. WILL.NOT.HAPPEN. Never. Niet. Nada. Anyway, why would you want to do that? Commit radioactive suicide??? And do you really want to mess with the Ukrainian police? Hmmm.

Abandoned island, which is patrolled by Japanese police in boats 24-7. And you don't want to mess with Japanese cops. [last edit 5/1/2006 12:21 PM by maZe - edited 2 times]
