Because the original poster decided to take down works added on by other people to those locations. That is akain to saying I should go in and take down materials off of the LDB that "offend" me.

Certain folks here do it all the time, it's a fact of life here. They don't give a fuck, so why should we.

"Grey Wolf, No one has any problem taking this guys stuff down, if you actually read the whole thread instead of assuming what av is talking about you will see the user in question removed other peoples hand work and effort when removing his."

I did not remove anything posted by another user. That is simply an untrue statement. Maybe you should read the whole thread?

Grey Wolf, No one has any problem taking this guys stuff down, if you actually read the whole thread instead of assuming what av is talking about you will see the user in question removed other peoples hand work and effort when removing his. So he was disrespecting other users and there rights to post what they want with out it being affected by other peoples rash actions. But Av is the bad guy for taking his stuff down as he asked and requesting that he not destroy other people's entries ? Ok, come back when you make some sence, thanks.

Mistakes are only human Andrea. He might have made the mistake of deleting the content without looking to see if anyone has added to his location. That has happened before.

However, biting his head off for a mistake does not sit well with me. It's happened to me more than once here, and i'm sure it's happened to you a time, or two.

  • I have removed the locations that were created by CMH and contained exclusively his content, as requested

  • I have twice undone his vandalism of other locations containing the works of other members (such as removing the word 'Building' from the 'Type' field, twice)

  • Since CMH was kind enough to replace his photo on the location he referenced with a photo of an arby's sign, I have replaced the photo with the first photo from UEJoe's gallery.

  • The LDB is a community effort. When you decide to contribute to the community by adding information, you can't expect it to be easily removed again later. Just like when you make a post in the forum it can't be changed later (unless extraordinary circumstances are met), some information from the LDB can't be removed either.

CMH, it's no use arguing with these people. Let's let it go for now.

Not to mention when you put stuff on here yoy shouldnt do it for a star or fame, you should do it to show others the sites. If I got a town I may look at sites to see.

    You people confuse me.

Do you even know what copyright is? There's no such thing as "copyrighting" a photo. All works created by an artist are automatically that artist's copyright.

When you upload photos and information to UER, you're not giving up your copyright, but you are issuing an implied license for UER to display your content. In some cases this license can be revoked (We allow you to delete your photos). In other cases, it can not (we don't allow you to remove your old posts)

I think Mark is saying when you upload something in the DB you know where it is gonna be and how it is going to be used. It makes no sence that one day some one wakes up and decides they don't like it and then makes demands. You are donating content to a site, yes it is yours, but by putting it up on a site run by Av you are putting control of that material to him. If you are so picky about what is done with your stuff, why upload it in the first place. Mark's got a point, when you submit your work to any where for anything no matter what copy right you have on it you are putting it in some one elses control. Save me the speech on the legal shit, I have been displaying art work and things for years. Even better, the school I go to owns all of the work I create while I am a student here, my room mate in photography can not sell anything she creates for a class assignment. Its property of the school. Its like donating a painting to a gallery and then demanding it back a week later and taking some one elses painting with you. Or how about when you write an article for a school paper ? They will edit it for size or content if needed and you can't go back and say give me my article back, its the papers from then on out. DB is not out there and some consitutional night mare, its pretty mild. You get credit for all of your work in the DB, and if you feel you don't get credit its your own fault for not marking your work. You are freaking out about your work being displayed in a place that you gave it to, and knew exactly where it would be and what would happen with it.

You are both arguing semantics; Av was arguing that you couldn't "copyright" (verb) <in response to your incorrect English, not to your meaning> a photo because it was already copyrighted, not that it couldn't be or wasn't copyrighted, and then went on to explain the meaning and licenses, in full.

    Please take this to PMs...

Your links don't work, greywolf. For some reason you made links with ellipsis in them.

Also, while you provided fine (broken) links, you failed to actually make an argument or point.

Since this thread no longer has anything to do with it's original purpose, I am locking it.
