Hehehe.... I was just reading this thread a couple hours ago and thinking about how no one had noticed my slightly animated avatar. Please don't take it away!

I can make it not animated for you... send it to me later...

It's a blanket rule, no animated avatars. So I'd suggest sending it to the lovely and kind Andrea to make non animated for you... or change it to something else non animated.

I fully embrace the non-animated avatar rule.

There is nothing more annoying than frequenting a message board full of people's posts with signatures and avatars taking up thirty times the amount of space than what they've actually written.

Especially people who place humungous flashing 800x500 images along with a three-paragraph-long quote written in neon pink 36pt text and ten blinking bouncing animated happyface icons in their signature. Makes me want to kill. And after scrolling through all their bullshit, all they have to say is something like "yeah lol!"

I'm not saying yours is at all like that, roland. I'm just saying that the blanket no-animated-avatars rule is something i love dearly.

Well, heres my avatar, without my beloved moving wisp of smoke...

Thanks Andrea... not that I couldn't have fixed it myself... because I could have, you know! I know lots about computers! Lots!

Taken from the Forum Rules:
6. SIGNATURES / ICONS
You may not use a signature longer than a few lines of text or containing a large picture. Let's not clutter up the thread viewing with big pictures that everyone's already seen a thousand times. Any violating signatures will be cleared by administrators.

Also, do not use a "Personal Picture" which is larger than 15 K or is incredibly annoying -- if it animates and distracts from the viewing of the page, administrators reserve the right to remove it.

I'm not really seeing a blanket rule here. As far as I can tell, roland could have kept his avatar as long as he wanted, because it didn't distract nor did any administrator make the move to remove it. They simply reserve the right to do so. I have seen several animated avatars on here that were done well enough to not be annoying or distracting. Someone had a flashing RF radiation sign for the longest time that I thought was ok.

Not trying to argue here, just an observation I made regarding the rules.

Hmmm shame I didn't have the Roland icon in my collection... I collect avatars (I have about 170 of them now, only 1.3M) and I recognize most people by their icon not their name...

Can you send me your original icon Roland?

Thx,
Tijmen

P.S. I'll update the CotBS site shortly - I have a lag and av deleted quite some avatars to free some space.
