Avatars expiring?

I had the "vote me for mod" icon for some time but as it's not funny anymore, I wanted to revert to my old image with pictureID 23389 but as I enter that in my profile, I don't have a picture at all ... are those pictures somehow expired so I should re-upload or am I doing something wrong?

I would assume all "unused" images are deleted after a short amount of time.

I remember Av mentioning that once a picture isn't used anymore...ie...once there aren't any pointers to that picture, the picture gets deleted from the server to save space, etc...

Just re-upload it and you should be fine.

I recently coded a scanner which scanned all posts, archived posts, private messages, and profiles, looking for pictureID's. It then compared this list with the the list of ID's that have been uploaded. When I ran it the first time, it found over 5000 ID's that weren't in use, and saved me about half a gig of disk space.

Go ahead and re-upload your picture.

I'd think if you plan on re-using a photo, maybe host it elsewhere? I dunno, just a suggestion.

[23:38:31] <metawaffle> I'm surprised the NE forum doesn't fall off UER from the weight of thread locks
