you just use 2 vid cards, or one card with dual monitor support

It requires wisdom to understand wisdom: the music is nothing if the audience is deaf.

A lot of higher end video cards support two (or more) displays. The Geforce4 TIs almost always have either a VGA and a digital or two digital (for LCD display) connections. My GF4 looks like this on the back, but is actually abit's card. The center connector is an S-video connection with some extra stuff thrown in for good measure. Great for hooking your computer directly to a TV.

when you install the drivers, there are utilities that let you set up your desktop to span both monitors or do whatever you want.

Is that 2 monitors for one comp? How does that work?

I've got a two-monitor setup on my Mac - a 19" Sony Trinitron and a 15" pice-of -shit. It acts as a crossover, giving you more desktop space, basically. I can drag a window from my 19" monitor over to my 15" monitor and leave it there. I can customize the look of both monitors, and have different desktop icons on them.

In a nutshell, the second monitor acts as an extension of the first.

My system here at work is running 3 Ati cards and 3 monitors, 1 19inch ADi with 2 17inch Samsungs on each side. I have 1 continuous desktop across them. I couldn't imagine doing web work any other way. Having said that, I just run a single 19 inch Samsung at home due to space considerations but I have a matched pair of old POS KXT 17inch monitors that both have problems with the red drive. If I ever get around to fixing them, I might HAVE to make more space.

Oh, but don't buy the PNY card in that picture -- PNY is out of business as I hear.

Yeah, I have dual monitors both at work at at home. I couldn't handle it without it. I love it

Most of our workstations here at the office have two monitors, even though they are on macs (ugh). Waste of good monitors.

Not fond of Macs? Huh. Obviously you aren't a true designer.

Considering they are square, and made of plastic and steel, that's a good thing. I suppose the only thing you and a Mac have in common are I/O ports. But then, that could be said about all of us.

I'm sure Av doesn't crash randomly, look pretty for no good reason, and have retarded groupies, either.

I on the other hand, am all of those.
