| | | Silent Knight and I have decided to split the LDB moderation responsibilities along country lines. I will be taking care of reviewing all current and new locations for the United States. Silent Knight will be focusing on the Canadian locations. We will both look after the International locations although in light of the greater number of entries in the US section I expect SK will have more opportunity to look after the International entries. Obviously this is a fluid agreement and we are both likely to cross borders from time to time. We welcome your input on sites that need attention. Please PM us with your concerns.
The end of the beginning is the beginning of the end. |

| | | Why not see about appointing an International DB Moderator? That way neither of you have to worry about it. If that's an idea, Turbozutek would be my recommendation. He knows his shit, believe me...

| | | Obviously it's not my decision but I guess that could be possible in the future. I think once the backlog of sites is reviewed, two LDB moderators will be more than enough to take care of the sites that are added and updated. Keep in mind that we were not "told" to divide our responsibilities we just agreed to so it would be easier to divide the work.
The end of the beginning is the beginning of the end. |

You think you have it easy Detroit, but "certain" European countries generate more pics and responses than I think that you are prepared for! Good luck, you'll need it, and ohh, a spare week or two. At least the pics are good, so that isn't an issue. Have fun.
I got your tour winner right here pussies, at least he'd crash out trying. |

That raises an interesting point - what is the criteria for moderating the LDB ? Can I expect to see: I HAVE DELETED YOUR POST, REASON: OFF TOPIC The picture was of a brick, and you mentioned wood.
On everyone of my pics ? That would suck. Chris...
We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit. |

| | | I can maybe see the point of a certain amout of quality control being excersiced with caution. For example deleting black photographs... and... ummm no, thats it, deleting black photos... But i would hate to see peoples natural responses to what they are seeing censored!! I don't really think thats needed, and god it would take some doing in certain countries locations ;o)!!!!

There's no real 'carved-in-stone' criteria or guidelines, but as I posted in another forum thread on this - Av provided the following general suggestions: - inappropriate imagery, links, and content - vandalism (removing information or defacing the data in the location) - Excessive bad photos (ie, photos that are just black) - Double posts of the same location under two names - Panoramas that should really be gallery images Obviously there's going to be conflicting opinions and we're bound to have a few people upset with any deletions we make. Can't please everyone. Folks should also keep in mind that since there is already a massive backlog of existing LDB entries, some mistakes may happen along the way. Going through all the locations isn't gonna happen overnight, either - Detroit and I can only go through`em time-allowing of course. As I've also said before, now's the time to make a little effort and go through your existing locations and see if there's anything additional you can add (or subtract) to improve the overall quality, whether its new/better photos, extra info or background, etc. Obviously we'd much prefer if everyone took a bit of time and made voluntary deletions to their own pic galleries of bad photos (if need be).

That seems FAR too vague to be of any real use. I see: - inappropriate imagery, links, and content = Anything This could (technically) mean the removal of every one of my Bukkake comments and non picture related comments. It could mean the removal of personal photos (Here is Turbo, he looks like this) that don't focus of a building or object. Also, it could mean the removal of any photoshops made. Which would be a real shame. Can you elaborate on the above rule ? Chris...

| | | Exactly; in Scotland for example, the comments are more priceless than the picture, not that the pictures aren't good. A year ago, mod's would be kind enough to delete duped pics, but I don't see that anyonmore. Don't mess around with with banter on the LDB; It's ten times better than the forum.

| | | The mods will know when a picture needs to be deleted. If they're not sure, they'll ask other mods. The only reason there's rules is to prevent flamewars about "some %$*&@##&%$$!!!! mod deleted my pics!!!",. they have reason to say: "We deleted it because of ....."

No one's said anything about deletion of comments. Myself, I'd only delete comments if they contradict the website's forum rules (revealing points-of-entry, personal attacks against other members, etc.). I think everyone is well aware of what constitutes common-sense inappropriate content. As for removal of photos themselves, for now we're mainly gonna concentrate on black images that really don't show anything. Common sense will apply. We won't be a bunch of deletion nazis. Lord knows I've contributed my share of so-so pics and photoshop`d images. I'm not about to shoot myself in my own foot by arbitrarily deleting stuff without good justifications.

| | | I wish everyone would relax; neither Silent Knight nor I are Mod Nazis. We will not delete any comments unless they are seriously out of bounds. Both of us understand that comments are often more valuable or interesting than the photos. However the rules that govern the forum also apply to the comments and stories in the LDB. If something is out of line it will be removed, no if ands or buts. * edit - spelling [last edit 11/1/2004 3:16 PM by Detroit - edited 1 times]

| | | Heck, I'd take it a step further. I think we should have a mod specifically responsible for deleting craptastic pictures from the forum. They'd scour all the boards for the worst examples of ue photography and put them out of our misery. Perhaps over time, the bad photo mod's powers could be extended to deleting any post where someone suggests that 'orbs' in a photo suggest paranormal activity. Caput_58

| | | We "unfortunately" do not have a mandate to remove examples of poor photography from the LDB, only unrelated, duplicate, really blurry, or totally white/black photos. The way I try to look at it is that it's not an artistic photo gallery, it's a DB of UE related sites. As long as the pictures are clear enough to show something worthwhile related to the site they have to stay. Besides, orbs are fun.

Im not trying to flame but honestly, I think they have enough to do without diveing into opinion. [last edit 11/1/2004 8:57 PM by Mark - edited 1 times]

| | | Maybe ya'll should actually wait and see how the new mods do their job before complaining. Has anyone had their pictures or comments unfairly removed yet? I don't think removing blurry or duplicate photos will be a problem, it's not too hard to tell the difference between a good but fuzzy photo and one that adds nothing to the location.
