Removing the remove button!
< on 10/26/2004 8:07 AM >
Posted on Forum: UER Forum

Hi all!

I have a question, I wonder if I'm being stupid and just not understood the function but what does the 'Remove' link on comments do ?

Because it SEEMS to do nothing ? I've never seen it ever remove a comment even if it's my own comment, on my own galleries... ?

Take this pic for instance:

http://www.uer.ca/...al.asp?picid=63365

I've double posted the crap out it by accident (Oops!).. So what to do ? Press 'remove' you would think.. But it doesn't do anything.

How come ?

Thanks!

Chris...

We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit.

How come ?

10. Modifying of Posts
The Modify feature is provided so you may make small changes to your post, like spelling corrections, fixing broken links, etc. It is not to be used to later remove your entire post, especially not after people have already replied to you. When you post on this board, you take responsibility for what you say, and understand that your words are permenantly part of that thread (unless they violate one of the other rules).

The remove function is for mods only...

I'm talking about the LDB - not the Forums.

Furthermore, I'm not attempting to edit or remove a post - I'm trying to delete a double, triple and quadruple post.

If this feature is for Mods only, why does it ask me for a deletion reason ? Would 'This feature is only for mods' not be a bit more helpful ?

If that's the reason then fine.. No probs - could a Mod please remove the double posts from the picture mentioned ?

Might be an idea for LDB comments to be checked for double posts ? I mean a script doing a direct compare with comments already on the pic ? Double / Triple / Quadruple posting on the LDB is fairly common if the page doesn't refresh correctly.

Just an idea - not sure how hard that would be to implement or how usefull others would find it.

Chris...

If only it worked for the mods, too.

I'm sure it's something Av is working on.

at one point it worked for everyone, anyone who clicked on the link was able to remove the comments, now it seams like no one can.

The "Remove" button in the forum is for moderators only. This includes the owner of a private board, in that private board.

The "Remove" button on individual comments in the LDB is for mods and admins only.

Thanks !

Maybe you should allow the "remove" button on posts, but only if it's the last (most recent) for that pic, and it's your own, so you can remove double posts.
