I was sneaking through the forest behind a Purity truckstop, and a skunk came out of the darkness and started chasing me. I ran. Fast.

This is the way the world ends.

Yeah, in the same incident that blue90 had, I was in a ditch near a fence (14ft away or so) when a purity truck stop worker decided to mosey on up and grab some stuff from right under the streetlight that was in front of me. I was so close I could read his hat. THAT was scary.

Bringing exploration to Clarksville.

The problem with the world is dumb people. I'm not advocating capital punishment for dumb people. I'm just suggesting we remove all the warning labels and let the problem solve itself.

I was checking out what i think has been deemed 'downtown atlanta's eyesore.' getting in took a little time, and thusly exiting would also.

anyway the building is about 12-14 stories, and i had gone up a level or two from my entrance. going higher would require using internal stairwells, which were located off a central hallway and completely dark (I had no light). as i stood at the entrance to the dark and cluttered stairwell, waiting for my eyes to adjust, i heard glass crunching under someones feet one or two stories above me in the stairwell. in my estimation, i wouldnt be able to get completely out before this person would see me, and i still wanted to explore, so i left the stairwell and ducked into a room off of the central hallway.

as i stood in the room waiting for this person to pass, with my spyderco open yet hidden, i realized that i would not know when they passed because i could not see into the hall. to get a better vantage point, i stepped into the entry vestibule that overlooked the central hallway. at the same moment, a homeless guy was stepping into the same room, so we were instantly squared off 3-4 feet apart.

he wasnt some broke-dick 60 year old bum; our eyes locked like two dogs for about 5 seconds, him looking for the end of my right hand and not seeing it, otherwise neither of us moving, mexican stand-off like. intense moment, diffused instantly with a quickly reciprocated 'what's up.' i talked to him for a few minutes, he thought i was a cop, and ended up getting out his equipment for 'one last' shoot up. needless to say i didnt stick around.

in my 20+ years of UE, this is the only time i have run into anyone like this. i am always very quiet. unfortunately in atlanta, many places are occupied with the homeless, and you never know exactly what will be included in this group.

First Post.

For me it would have to be a 2 Human bodies (An older man and a young Woman)

I called the cops on my cell and they sent out a bunch of police.. when they asked why i was there i said i was trying to catch my dog that got loose and i came across the bodies.

found out later it was a murder-suicide (man and daughter)

I had nightmares of that sight for weeks

Dead bodies!?!?! are you serious?

wow....i wonder how decomposed they were and what kinda abandonned location it was.
i always have a fear that places are abandonned mainly because something bad happened there or that there might be a disease inside.

i saw a dead animal once at a location, that about does it for my scary experiances.

Me and some pals were looking around an old residential school in Northern Alberta that was supposed to be haunted(like every old, abandoned building). We were down in the basement and tried to get into another part of the building though this door. We were jiggling the doorknob back and forth, but the door wouldn't open. The thing is, the doorknob kept jiggling just as hard after I let go. I don't know if some wiseguy was on the other side, but we were sure that we were the only ones there. And then we ran.

In a classic tale of drama and fright, my friends and I stumbled upon a probable phantom. Do not give into your temptation to write this off as another ghost story, we don't believe in them either. We had entered the steam tunnels and were marching through a brand new one, spacious and clean and asbestos-free. Here we found a door, partially blocked by a pipe, we went through it and emerged into a huge room of instruments in glass cases. Lest the authorities think we were burglars, we made our way out of this extraordinarily classy basement into the ground floor of the building we had identified as a huge auditorium.

Being the clever and curious explorers we are, we had to climb into the darkened auditorium, to sample its glamour in the pitch blackness. We climbed the stairs to the mezzanine to get a better view of the auditorium, my friend had his hands on the knob when he heard a noise: BRAAHHHH BRAHHHH! Yes, loud and creepy organ music was coming from the darkened auditorium. We sprinted down the stairs and the music crescendoed, stopping only once we'd left. We came to the conclusion that either the auditorium was haunted or that it had the best damn burglar alarm in the world.

The scariest thing that ever happened to me was when I did a mall in LA. after wandering around the 1.5 Million sq ft mall for several hours the group came to what seemed to be a refurbished section for offices. whiles standing next to one cubicle and looking down a hall I saw myself in a mirror and after about 3 minutes the reflection bent over but I hadn't! boy I had never run so fast in my life..totally freaked me out. of course it turns out that there was in fact a construction crew there on that sunday and one of them must have been wearing a red shirt just like me, so it wasn't my reflection at all. I guess the construction worker musta thought it was his reflection too because they never came after us...thankfully.

The scariest encounter I have had was in Peterville(?) Indiana. My friend and I were going to check out a house that my friend had said hed been scared of the whole time he was growing up. As an explorer and hh junkie, I just had to see this place. Well we finally got to a bunch of old farm roads and it seemed to be getting foggier and foggier out and really think, so we coudlnt see very far in front of us. Just when he said, ok we should almost be there, the most crazy and horifying vision I have ever seen appeared in front of us. We were about to drive smack into a huge bonfire in the middle of the road so he slammed on the breaks. Thats when we saw all the black figures that had been surrounding this fire. No, not ghosties but people dressed in black robes and black hoods. Neither of us had time to speak before they all started heading towards are car. If they would have been startled by the car and ran off, or perhaps waited a moment more before walking towards us, perhaps it wouldnt have been so creepy. I tried to say "back up, back up" but it just kinda came out a croaking noise. He threw the car into reverse and I just prayed he could keep it straight and not veer off the road as it was all muccy muddy cornfields around us. We finally got to where we could turn around, unfortunately by that time one of those hooded guys had gotten into a car they must have had there and began following us. He followed us for a food half hour before turning around.
I was scared to DEATH but just HAD to go back there the next day. We raided our laundry money and couches to get up the gas money to go. When we came to the road to turn on, the first thing we noticed was a dead animal on a pole. (No I cant tell you what kind, I didnt want a closer look) We got to the spot where the fire had been. The scorchmarks from the fire were inside a huge pentagram drawn in what Im hoping was brownish red paint, but considering the animal, I doubt it. THere were also several symbols drawn here and there, not sure what they were.
Long story short, I have had odd experiences here and there but the living are more scary to me than any ghost like appearance could ever be. I have noticed plenty of inverted pentagrams/pentacles on my little explorations. Up to that point I always kind of told myself it was some old metal fan or a dyslexic wiccan/pagan. Now I have to wonder. What on earth were those people doing?
On a plus note, the house was amazing!!! Were too scared to go inside even in the daylight. For all we knew the "freaks" had taken up residence there. But from looking in windows etc, it had an amazing staircase (no longer accessable due to the fact that the bottom half was missing). I wish I had a camera to take a pic of that surreal looking, hanging in mid air staircase. I have unfortunately since lost touch with my friend. If any one knows where this place is or has any experience with it, please let me know. It was very close to Columbus Indiana. Im fairly sure the town was called Peterville. It was a farmhouse that was LONG abandonned. We also had to pass a smalll abandonned old school house on the way to it. Wish I had money/time/ and directions to get back there. Any info would be GREATLY appreciated!

Tekriter and myself were on the 8th floor of the Buffalo Central Terminal office tower. Earlier we had seen a police car parked at the base of the tower while we explored a lower floor. Once we reached the 8th floor we looked out the window to check if the police car was still there.... it was there! but the car wasn't alone. There were half a dozen police cars, several unmarked police vans and suburbans, police dogs, and cops dressing-up in tactical gear. We nearly s*#t ourselves. We watched as they got ready and then we formulated a plan. We decided to walk down the staircase once they entered the building. We would talk loudy to each other and laugh and pretend we didn't know they were there. We both hoped to get out of jail before work the next day, but we're both Canadians in Buffalo after lying to the border agent about the reason for our visit to the U.S.

Anyway, we fiqured we would stumble into the cops and play stupid.... luckily we didn't have to, they got into their vehicles and drove a few blocks away and did a raid on a house. They were just using the BCT as a staging area.

You can't be lost if you don't care where you are!

I don't know - that could be blood. The other options are vomit, but if you look at the placement of where the stains are on the bed, my vote is for poop. Probably of the very runny variety. If the man who was once in that bed was very old and sick, he was probably also incontinent.

Phantom - is this "the place" that you had some trouble with?

any more facts on this place? honestly the first time I saw the pics I was reminded of when they placed those blue hospital pads underneath me when they broke my water to induce labor. They shoved them to the side and later they looked much the same. Was the house equipped for an older person or could it possibly have been someone trying a home birth?
If the home birth or water breakage is a definite no, Id have to go with either the super runny poop or a urine stain of someone with a kidney/bladder/uti infection that would cause a bit of blood to be in the urine. I cant imagine someone with that harsh of an infection in their intestine being able to gulp down enough water to make that much of a mess.
Just my 2 cents!
