Ash Grey VS Black

I have been reading some about good colors to use.

I read that black can leave a hard out line even in almost no light at all.

This one thing I read said Ash Gray is the best if you don't want to be seen in a city like area.

What is best?

Depends on what color background. Dark grey is all around great for urban enviroment. Dark blue is used a lot as well. Depends on prefrance and enviroment.

If you have ever watched a WW2 flying flick, you'll notice the planes are panted dark green or gray. This is from a therory that a plane painted black is actually darker then the night sky and will therefore standout, so they painted them a slightly lighter color. So for urban enviroment i would suggest gray or dark blue.

Despite popular belief black is a poor choice for blending in at might. A while ago, a few seconds after exiting a location with Jester, Wolfman, and Charlie at night, we spotted a security guard doing her rounds. She was walking outside and it was relatively dark. She was wearing all black, and she was so easy to spot. We were wearing medium to dark grey clothes. For urban areas, like Mark and Gunslinger said, grey, blue, or green is best, but Jester is the resident camo expert. At least that's what he tells me. Even with almost no light, objects and shadows are rarely completely black.

If you really want good cammo, go get some green cammo and die them black, the multi shaded colors will allow a break up of patern and a non total black surfice.

Yeah, I shun pure black because it causes a discernable silhouette. More neutral shades, especially greys are very good. For areas with decent foliage, proper camo is the best as long as you actually have the right shades for your surrounding area.

My personal favorite night gear is actually typical forest camo dyed with Navy blue.

I almost always wear black jeans with a grey t-shirt. The jeans are faded enough that they are now dark grey so it works out nicely for me. I've never tried it but I would imagine that woodland camo dyed darker would be superb.

I usually wear a pair of heavily faded army green pants. Bought them at a thrift store for like 5 bucks. The fade actually hepls in two ways; it makes the green more greyish, and it helps to setup a bit of a street person appearance, which can come in handy at times.

I prefer to wear casual clothes for not looking like a commando of some sort. Makes it easier to explain that you are just here for photographing if you get caught or confronted with security.

As many have said earlier, black is not the best choice for blending in the darkness. I´ve found dark blue and dark brown to work well.

New studies suggest that the eye can not focus on blue as well as any other color naturally.

I wear a greenish-grey fleece jacket which nicely zips up my neck along with faded brown canvas pants. Very sturdy, stealth, yet normal looking.

Not to disagree with you mark. Its also been found that purple is the color your eyes find most disorientating.

My favorite camo... Blends into shadows so well... minus the brighter green on my ass, had to make a quick disappearnace down a slope at an oil refinery and had slid down a big bright green pipe... It looked way funnier with a bright green spot on the ass of Scarab's Ninja suit though...

Although I prefer to wear casual clothes, those digital urban camos would propably look nice when dyed with dark grey or dark brown to take the white dots away.

Yeah, those are more like, "Here I am, please come pester me!" Unless you're UEing a public park, I don't think those are going to do much good...

Servo.... you know I like you and all, BUT YOUR FUCKING WRONG . Those are acceptable especially in this day and age of style. Im not much for that kind of camo (blue kind) but the grey digital is pretty neat.

I was actually thinking about only trousers in that color as I've never been a fan of BDU jackets. You can wear camo trousers OR jacket and still appear casual and not a member of some militia or otherwise suspicious.

And besides, style over substance...
