Ah, so we get ads now even if we have already donated? No fun. (If this is not a recent addition, ignore this.)

Though I have to admit, as a total stats junkie, that I'm happy to have the datum of having looked at 51,200 pages.

i think that donations keep you ad-free for only a month, or something to that effect. Like five dollars a month, ten dollars for two months? Something like that. I have no idea. I just started getting the ads again today so my donation thingie must have run out of ad-free time.

Can you believe it? You've looked at 44100 pages on this forum already!

Many large-scale websites have irritating banner ads which flash and annoy you. Some better websites have more regular banner ads, which aren't as annoying, but are still there, taking up space.

UER does not have any banner ads, nor any other kind of ad, adwords, intellitxt, or anything else. The only thing close to an ad is the donation reminder, which comes up not on every page, not on every second page, but every 50 pageviews. It does not flash, it does not irritate, it's simply there.

Some websites allow users to donate money in exchange for banner-free page views. Slashdot, for example, which puts large image banners on the site, allows you to pay money to have a certain number of ad-free page views.

I figured that a donation would be good for one month of donation-reminder-free page views, along with all the other stuff you get when you donate. Although I appreciate all donations very much, it's unrealistic to think that a donation of $1 should get you ad-free page virews forever.

If you have a problem with this, consider how much worse it could be.

I feel like a total lose-bag; my banner said something like "you've looked at 785,000" pages to date dipshit!" Literally it was that high. I have dontated before, and sure it's not a lot but I felt like the credit monkey found me here.

correction: "It was 78000 and change page views". 'Dukes is a UER Junkie.

Took the words right out of my mouth. I GREATLY prefer Av's reminder "ad" to having several dozen annoying, blinking, flashing ads taking up 40% of my screen.

True! I only wish every sentance in it didn't end in an exclamation point! There's a place for breathless over-the-top hyperbole, but a donation reminder isn't one of them! Still, it could always be worse! !

It's got a typo in it, by the way. The "if" in the last setence should be capitalized.

On a totally diffrent topic, would it be possible to add date stamps to journal entries?

The entire second sentance is not capitalized. This is simply a design thing.

Thanks for your input. God forbid a free, simple journal tool built into this website not have all the features of commercial blogging software.
