Pushing yourself to start exploring?

I've always messed with exploring before I knew there was a term for it. Very small time stuff though.

Lately with what seems like a lack of places to explore and a car that eats gas like I eat cake. It's hard to push myself or find motivation to get out and find new places. What do you all do to push yourself?

Here in Southern IN the coolest abandoned buildings we have are old gutted out farm houses and the occasional church. So that doesn't help my motivation.

One of the things that helps motivate me is that I have a website I run and we also have a presentation at a local convention coming up that we need to provide nearly half an hour of footage for. On top of that I work third shift and I have full custody of my son, so my social life is pretty limited. Going to abandonment's doesn't require much planning to get your friends to join in. So UE has become my way of maintaining a social life.

I love your site, I actually follow you on facebook. The whole site building idea and upkeep is actually a good idea.

I dont know how "south" you are in Indiana but seriously there is so much abandoned crap I drive by in this state it would take years to explore everything. Terre Haute has two abandoned 12 story buildings I have yet to get to (soon I hope).

Think about it this way: they're not going to remain standing forever.

I hear you. The only places I've been able to find in my area are old houses, its cool to go through them but I want to explore something different.

Im out South West. I think what you are doing is looking for things on here. You might want to start google earth searching, and researching some. Gas sucks right now but a good road trip helps. I think it was torn down but Terre Haute was a big industrial town for a while. Not so much now.

Glad I found this, actually. Been interested in UE for a while now, but rarely get around to leaving the beaten path of public spots, mostly solo. Been thinking lately it's time to get off my ass and find some spots, but having the same motivation issues.
