| | | My first thread < on 11/2/2012 5:55 AM >
| | | So this is technically my third, um, location. I and a group of friends have just gotten into UE and this is our first big find. You might remember Walmart's "Hypermart USA" idea from the 80s/90s. We live just north of the original, which officially closed its doors in 2007. So we decided to spend our Halloween checking the place out. Surprisingly, it wasn't hard to find a way in. Didn't plan on getting in at all or taking pics, so these are from my phone (which died halfway through) and most of the shots turned out pretty much all black.
This is the stockroom, it was around 11 PM so, other than the flashlight and my phone's camera flash the place was pitch black. You can see a racetrack cup on the pallets which expired May 2012, fairly recent.
This was the sign frame above the deli section. One of the few shots with good lighting. :(
The freezer for the deli section. Someone wrote something in red sharpie on the wall next to the thermostat. I can't remember anything except "LOL", but we plan on going back with a good camera.
Inside the freezer. Nothing to see here. :(
A dark and foreboding hallway none of us wanted to go down. Probably a dead end anyway...Right?
My favorite pic. This room was the eye clinic. It was really cool, but alas, this is where my phone died ;(
This is probably the coolest thing I've ever done. EDIT: Oh, and as an afterthought, toward the end of this adventure I came across a mannequin in a dark corner. I didn't think much of it until I walked around to the front and found it had a bloody clown face and was holding an ax. Needless to say this scared the crap out of me. I couldn't have taken a pic even if my phone was on! [last edit 11/2/2012 6:01 AM by Professor Plum - edited 1 times]

I went there during the Grand Opening week. They had lots of loss leader specials. Unfortunately, this location is within the jurisdiction of a law enforcement agency known to be particularly hard nosed. I avoid this city, not just for exploration, but for all purposes.

Ah. Well, these were on my phone so the originals aren't much bigger or in better quality. I'll bring my digital camera next time and we'll have better lighting so hopefully the pictures will turn out better.

Thanks. I'm pretty good about letting stuff roll off my back, and it helps that I'm oblivious to most sarcasm anyway.

ick, ick, ick; that would have scared the living daylights out of me, finding that in the darkness of a giant Walmart. Effing mannequins... You'll definitely have to go back sometime to get better pictures; these look pretty damn cool already but like you said, you only had the light from your flashlight and the phone... Great shots regardless though! Talk about making the best of the situation, with nothing but your phone!
