New Star Suggestion
< on 6/20/2004 12:43 AM >

We could have a "post whore" star. It would let us know that someone can't be trusted depending on their post count. I also noticed that some people subsribe, forget it for half a year, and have a 6 month icon! They could be given a "in the mourge" icon. Other members could know that they haven't actually been here 6 months. The in the mourge icon could also consist of making the background of the "month or year" star red. The star would be given to people who aren't active for 1 month. While we're on the topic of user activity, we also coul have a "active". To have it people have to post/log on at least once a day. Thare could also be a timer(they have to spend 10 minutes on UER a day).

I think he's serious.

I would think that if you are here for any amount of time, you will be able to tell who posts (with meaningful content), who doesn't, who hasn't been around for awhile, ect. You know who you trust and who you don't. If you visit often, you will see the same people who consistantly post and the others who rarely post.

Guess I don't see the point of creating more icons.

I think some icon or notification besides the date/time in the user's profile to quickly show that they haven't been around in a month would be a good addition. I'm not all for more stars, so maybe just the month star with a different background, like as suggested or something.

I personally think we should reduce post space down to about the size of your average signature and use the rest of the space available for stars! Hell let's do away with written communication all together and just communicate through stars and various icons like heiroglypics and shit!

i like the star communication system, wait lets talk with herrings!! yes and i could chop down the largest tree in the forest with a star or maybe a herring!!!
just kidding, i agree the stars seem a bit much sometimes. they are cute but really meaningless. Some people, i admit i do, post serious stuff on the board they most relate to, me it happens to be quebec, and then keep it light in the other board. I already have guessed the "non" quebec crowd think im a bumbleing ignoramous, i just like to get a laugh now and then. In the quebec board i tend to be more serious and try, sometimes fail , to stay on topic. So if the "moron" star came out id be afraid to post for fear of getting it. all this to say stars bad MLB good!

How about no stars whatsoever? Then you get rid of all these stupid arguments, and everyone's equal.

End of.

Stars serve a useful purpose. If you don't like them, you may use the Infiltration interface, which has no stars or any other kind of widgets or advanced features.

No, it's a fact. The Infiltration Interface has no stars, no personal pictures, no personal text. There is no "IM Watch" feature, no link to the UER chat, no "users online" counter. It also has no "new posts" indicator when reading a thread -- on all other interfaces, new posts appear with a blue background.

Ninj wanted the Infiltration interface to be plain and simple, and that's what he gets.
