| | | i'm wondering what is done to the images uploaded to the database... are they automagically resized or recompressed in any way?; is the EXIF / IPTC data nuked?; are the basic file attributes nuked? the curiosity is due to a post in another forum about being too specific in our descriptions of adventures; what's the point in being secretive if our images metadata tells all?

| | | The images are resized to 800x600, recompressed to a lower quality level, and any extra data like META and EXIF, along with any proprietary crap such as thumbnail images, guides, etc is removed. It's surprising how often people upload a 1.5 MB file right from their camera, and the system turns it into a 30k file. Talk about wasting their bandwidth.

| | | if the file is already 800x600 and about 30ish k, does the software do anything to the size and compression?

| | | I would love to have resized photos for you guys but I have no clue how to pre do that. Even with infra whatever I still cant get it down to 10k for just plain board posting.

| | | If the file is 800x600 or less, it doesn't resize it, but it will recompress it. It does this to "normalize" the file -- remove the EXIF, thumbnails, Progressive mode, and any other crap like that. -av

| | | Is there any way to do what you talk about in photoshop? I have always wondered what it takes to get rid of exif info.
