I apologize if I am incorrect... But I do believe you have 'Storm Drain' confused with 'Nuclear Fallout Apocalypse Bunker.' But that would be a good explore too. No doubt.

| | | I have to agree and admit that I, too am envious of the awesome storm drains/sewers some people have. In FL, our drains suck!! They're small and simple. I'd love to go to a big city up north and explore drains there. Anyone from FL down for a road trip?

| | | Drains are the work of the Devil and should not exist!
Also, I am from Colorado, and I know for a fact the New York has some sweet drains/sewers. Just saying, you have to go out and look. [last edit 5/3/2012 2:36 PM by urbexkeith - edited 1 times]

| | | I hate spiders. On another note, I love, love, love the brick structure some of the drains have. Simply beautiful. Never seen anything like it in person. Where is a common place that they're made of brick? Or is it hit and miss, random? As in, some are, some aren't.

Depends mostly on how old the area you are in is. The older the area, the more likely the drains will be old too.

| | | Only nob-jockies go in drains. And for God's sake people, it's... WHEN IT RAINS, NO DRAINS! Saying variations such as, "raining = no draining" could lead to a senseless death!

| | | Posted by shotgun mario I once walked into a storm drain, but about 100 feet in I thought I saw an orb, so I left. It was awesome.
|
It'd be pretty awesome to see an orb. Probably would creep me out though... Around here, there's no brick drains. FL is lame for UrbEx-ing.

I don't know, florida has a lot of towers. Especially in places like Tampa and Miami. And as for the orb, maybe it was someone else's flashlight?

| | | If it hasn't been raining, are you completely safe from being surprised by a sudden gush of water? Since there are other events which produce decent amounts of wastewater to flow into drains (i.e. backwashing a pool, water dept flushing out a fire hydrant, overzealous yard watering, etc.) Also, how do you keep from getting just totally lost and turned around down there? Draining sounds fun & adventurous, but I just can't get past the catacombs-ness of them. That and the fear of being swept away by an unexpected flow of water. Well, for the most part you are safe, the rain is what usually causes the floods. And back washing a pool, and flushing out a fire hydrant are fairly uncommon occurences (not to mention back washing a pool into storm drains is illegal, at least around here it is.) The only unforeseeable thing that could cause a flood that I can think of, is the small chance there is some sort of remote controlled dam somewhere in the system which could open and wash you out, but I have only seen something like that once and it is only emptied in the winter so a manmade lake doesn't freeze. And it is a common misconception that it is easy to get lost in drains, you really just go back the way you came. And you can always mark walls with chalk as a guide to get back. Just be safe and use common sense, check the weather report before going in, leave if you see the water level rising, and take any opportunity you can to look out of the drain, like peeking out of a gutter box, etc. [last edit 5/7/2012 6:39 PM by urbexkeith - edited 3 times]
