| | | Picture Limit for LDB Galleries < on 6/7/2006 12:27 AM >
| | | In an effort to promote a higher quality-to-chaff ratio in the LDB, I have introduced a 25-picture limit for all future galleries in the Location Database. Existing galleries will not be changed; however, you will not be able to add more images if the total exceeds 25. This feature was suggested and requested by many people. Currently, some members simply upload the complete contents of their memory card onto UER, resulting in galleries of 100+ images, with many blurry, duplicate, or over/underexposed pictures. The new limit will require people to select (hopefully) the best 25 images from their trip and to upload just those. There is no limit on the number of galleries a user may create in a location -- if a gallery of more than 25 pictures is absolutely required, please clear this action with a moderator, and then you may create two galleries for the same trip. This is not recommended, however. This feature also marks the reintroduction of the "Multiple Delete" feature for galleries. It was taken out of service due to bugs, and has now been restored, in an effort to make it easier for people to delete problem photos more quickly. -av

Not every square inch of a location has to be shown in every gallery. This will force posters to be more selective in what they put up and will give subsequent visitors the opportunity to post original photos of a site. I suppose that if you're posting a new large site, you could always break the photos you took into multiple sub-galleries.

But it'll make you choose the best of your shots. no more dumping your shotlist directly to the database. edit: spelling. I'm a moron [last edit 6/7/2006 7:56 PM by journeylady - edited 1 times]

I've always thought that was kind of lame. I'm no Ansel Adams, but I at least try to pick a nice representation of the trip, and just post those. Nobody wants to see my life story on film.
I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread. |

Um, no, this is not the case at all. I suggest you check the "LDB Policies" thread. UER offers hosting for UE-related photos of the locations in question. We do not offer hosting for "whatever pics they want". -av

Whatever happened to the LDB mod concept? I'd like to do that; I'm good at being a dick. Seriously, there is no moderation at all nowadays. I posted some crazed insult to some new guy a few days ago and couldn't believe noone deleted it.
