So I'm coming up from the states for a short trip, and staying in Victoria. Been reading this posts from start to now.

From what I understand, there's going to be a meet? Maybe?

I'll be bringing my gear as I'm UE'ing in WA state on the way there.

I'll be staying on the island August 1-5. Would love to meet up for a few hours on my trip and see some things while I'm there.

Been coming to Victoria for over 20 years now as part of my family vacation. Very familiar with the major streets downtown.

PM me if you'd like to meet up...

Anything exciting to do and see? The bridge doesn't sound too exciting, unless we can get inside the inner-workings.

RailGuy;

Check in with me/us? closer to when you are here. I like your work, and like trains. Have you totally explored the roundhouse and that whole area?

What roundhouse?!? Where is this one at?

Anywhere near downtown? I may or may not have a vehicle to drive while I'm there. So if not, it'll be the mini-ferries and walking for the most part.

I don't do drains, sorry. Rail lines and the such, a must. And abandoned buildings, warehouses, structures, and places of history are also of interest.

Thanks. I have lots of pics to share, but I select the best that depict/show my best side. I'll be putting up more when I return.

Just finishing a DB before I leave...

Sorry...we don't chill with folks who dangle their participles.

Kidding.

Fuggedaboutdit. Everywhere is close to downtown. A car isn't necessarily neccessary.

You'll have fun. And you'll go where we damned well decide to take you.

Kidding. You'll have fun.

Actually, I was incorrect regarding the roundhouse. We have a turntable, and several excellent old rail buildings. Some still in use, and close to town. In Vancouver, they have an old roundhouse converted to a gallery and community center. I think it was an old original roundhouse, not a replica.

The Dayliner train that goes up island is a 50's Budd car. There's two awesome trestles, one is 360? feet. Damn high.

Whatever works is fine by me. But no drains. Underground tunnels or hallways I'll do though. For some reason, the thought of swimming or wading thru sewage doesn't appeal to me too well.

Even though they're all as dry as a bone.

We'll work something out.

Indeed.

Read about a fire around what is now Trounce Alley. Ages ago, mind you, and a whole city block was wiped out. WWI era. They dug trenches around the ruins and sold tours for 25 cents...an attempt to re-create the trench warfare experience or some such.
