That was shot with my old 5D Mark ii and a Zeiss 50mm, my favorite lens. Settings were f/1.4, ISO 160, 1/400 exposure

That's really neat! I'm guessing it's either insect damage (I feel like that's unlikely unless they were grooved) or wood rot.

Off-white was the original color of the house. All the red and black gunk is mold, algae, and dirt. I think the squiggles might be from snails or slugs crawling around eating the mold or algae.
