To the Poconos . . .
< on 9/1/2016 2:05 PM >
Posted on Forum: UER ForumQuote
I'm leaving later today to take the RV to a campground out in the Poconos. It's an hour or less drive from 9 old resorts, some of which I haven't seen yet and would like to. My regular exploring partner has to leave Saturday but I'm going to be there til Tuesday. If anyone wants to hit someplace Sunday, Monday or even Tuesday shoot me a pm. Or if you just feel like stopping by to say hi I'll put a cheeseburger on the grill for you. Just come by and look for me if you like. . . . .

I know it looks like a turd but it runs great and only has 40k miles on it !!

sounds fun! there is a really awesome candy store on the main drag there that i stop at every time i drive from the northeast coast to pittsburgh or cleveland. they have all the old school goodies... candy cigarettes, beechnut gum, sugar babies, salted licorice ... you name it they got it! in case you need fuel for the adventure

I was at the same places two weeks ago, they're pretty run down but still good and not bad to get in to.

So I had to come home early and the trip was cut real short, but I got to see one cool place and got chased out of another. Good trip all around. I'll post some pics later.

That spot was uneventful. Later I went to an old hotel somewhere in New Jersey. It was originally a Playboy Club in the 70's. It's now condos and timeshares but mostly vacant. I knew there were people in there but underestimated their protective nature.

It's a small town... at least you didn't get busted.

That site you shot was in pretty good shape.
Looks like it was good fun

Very cool shots. Love those old resorts, but I haven't seen that one before, whichever one that is. Very nice RV, too. Perfect exploring "home base"

We ended up going to the resort in your pictures. We struck out the the other resorts we tried.

That place was very cool! We spent a few hours there and still did not see everything. Such variety! We had a absolute blast.

We tried Penn Hills but it has fresh boards and at least 5 security cameras right out front, which are definitely on.

It looked like a dump. That's why I was so surprised by the new boarding and multiple security cameras. I mean why bother at this point?

Not a big deal, I really just wanted to see the heart shaped jacuzzis anyway. The two places we ended up going were probably 100 times better than Penn would have been.

Did the they ticket him, or let him off with a warning?

I wonder if it was the caretaker that decided to straighten up the lobby. Used to have brochures covering the floor wall to wall. I can see them in a pile in one of your shots. Very strange. Also, were all the lights off? They were on when I was last there.

He got off with a warning, he is military so that kind of helps in situations like that.

I drove by on my way home from another trip and there was a car parked at the lobby door. The same car was parked there the day we showed up to look around. By the time we covered the NE side of the resort and crossed the road to the other side the car was gone. The electricity and lights were still on in the lobby.
