great shots man!

I wonder if it was the caretaker that decided to straighten up the lobby. Used to have brochures covering the floor wall to wall. I can see them in a pile in one of your shots. Very strange. Also, were all the lights off? They were on when I was last there.

I drove by on my way home from another trip and there was a car parked at the lobby door. The same car was parked there the day we showed up to look around. By the time we covered the NE side of the resort and crossed the road to the other side the car was gone. The electricity and lights were still on in the lobby.

When i went not to long ago the stuff was all over the floor and was this a black car? i saw it when i went parked in the same place, it left after awhile

I vaguely remember the car being dark blue but I wasn't really interested in what it was so much as it meant someone else was there . . . . .

I'm sorry Your Honor, it will never happen again !

Yep, black Audi. Guy was pissed that we were pulled over and followed our car for two or three miles after we left.

When we went, a few days after you, there were a few other people poking around. A guy and his two kids, a boy and a girl. My buddy scared the shit out of them. I believe they left shortly thereafter. When we were across the street from the lobby building we saw a black car, pretty sure it was a Jetta, parked on the side of the road. Right after that we saw two people coming out of one of the small houses. They smiled and waved, so likely not a caretaker.

Power was on in a few spots, which we found pretty odd considering the condition of the buildings. A place we will return to for sure next time we find ourselves in that area.

Penn hill is a dump my buddy got caught there a few months ago.

Damn, that sucks. Im very surprised that Penn has security cameras and new boarding. That place around 2013 was done for, and even worse when I went 2015-16. It was always wide open. Seems like there is no point in trying to secure that place, unless they are planning a demo soon? I wanted to go back one day to see one building that I missed, but I doubt its worth the trip.

There was a dumpster on the property, they may be getting ready for demo.

Fresh boards, you can see the cameras as well if you looks closely:

Damn, wow. With the fence and dumpster, i'd say demo coming. Because if I had owned the property and it was that far gone, I wouldn't have spent the money on securing it, unless it posed a safety risk inside.

It's probably also a matter of making sure everyone knows to stay away, to lessen the chances people will be around when the buildings start falling.

I was planning on checking out Buck Hill Inn sometime very soon, but heard about its potential demolition last month. Can anyone give me a definitive answer if it's still there?

Doubt it , though it is a huge place may take awhile to tear down the whole thing.

Buck Hills is pretty much done, the caretaker is back there and busting people left and right.

But now would be the time to go if you wanted any chance of seeing it.

Are we sure those are working cameras? I know someone who was just there last week. If they are working, no one is watching them...

They had flashing red lights on them. I would imagine they are there mainly to deter people from coming on the property and if they are recording they are likely only checked if there is some sort of incident, signs of scrapping etc.

They could even be fake for that matter. My buddy has a fake one at his cabin because he had problems with people breaking in. It has fooled most of our friends when he tells them it's real lol.

At any rate the cameras, fresh boarding and new fences was enough for us to pass, especially considering I had heard the place was borderline not worth it at this point anyway.

The cam's are the least of your worries. Fresh boarding and new fencing means it's not unattended.
You'll get cited if caught.
Worse the boarding kills ambient light shooting inside and really puts a damper on capturing the spirit of the place.

Meh, maybe Seph can find some ghosts of dead janitors there
