what the hell? so much in there... wow.
When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store. |

There's even more than that! I love that drain!

This is one drain i haven't gotten to wander yet but have wanted to for a while. Love the paint in there.

I was very impressed with the paint there. There were about four or so of 10-20 ft tunnel pattern sections. Here is another one . Definitely worth going into.

Its in the Minneapolis Metro in Minnesota. Most of the drains around here are tagged to some degree. I don't mind concrete drains being tagged/painted especially if it is well done, but I'm not a fan of when the older stone or brick drains are tagged. I really like your drain pics. Great lighting. I'm working on improving mine.

Agreed. A boring concrete drain, when painted up, can become a fun art gallery, a fascinating record of tags and jokes, or even a memorial space to a passed friend. In these cases, tags/grafiti/art enhance the character of the space. Drain outfalls, especially the one highlighted in this thread, have so much paint activity on a constant basis that they change and evolve over time, in a way I find very organic and interesting. Stone or brick drains/tunnels, on the other hand, are already fascinating by themselves, and paint upon them detracts from their character and historical nature.

Wow, that place looks neat as hell! If I'm ever in the MSP area, I'll have to track it down. Thanks for sharing!

Cool man, thanks. You shooting with what? It's one part a good camera and one part good use of lighting and for my part post processing the raw file in PS.

Very nice set of photos, Herm. I wasn't expecting so much paint, either. This is like... someone flushed the baby funhouse down the toilet when it got too big for the tank. o.O I've been an above-ground type of person so far in my career but the temptation is growing.

I shoot with a small point and shoot camera and my nexus 5 phone though I don't use my phone often for fear of dropping it in the water. My camera unfortunately only has a 2 sec exposure. I have a tripod, but I haven't used it in a drain yet and I'm not sure how much good it would do given my limited exposure length. Would it? . A better camera isn't in the budget at this time. Some decent mini lights are on my list to buy . I'm just going to keep trying different things. I'll post more after my next draining adventure.

Are number 5 and 18 really painted like that? That's some serious dedication!
