the akins was a stock that the action "floated" in. when you fired the rifle/stock. the action went back under recoil, then forwards under spring tension. to (if your finger was still in the same spot) fire again.. it ran great and was adjustable for diff loads of .22 but if you read my links. the ATF re classified it as a machinegun and repealed its previous ruling and approval after a few were sold as "stocks" owners were to send them to the atf (i think) to avoid fed firearms charges if they did not have the $200 tax stamp... ATF = JACKWAGONS!

Regardless of what the ATF does...how does an attachment make it NOT a fully auto? I mean yeah, these guys are the class of people who weasel their way through all the nooks and crannies of written rules and laws, good for them, but its still a fully auto rifle.

the ATF did the same with the akins stock. on www.firefaster . com, they even had a pdf copy of the atf letter. the stock was just that, an ad-on. it did not alter the workings of the ruger 10/22 at all. it still fires 1 round per trigger pull. that is why it WAS legal. the rate of fire was why it was reclassified. the akins design is not new or ground breaking... hell with a string and a rubberband i can make just about any semi-auto fire like a full auto- i just dont see the need to or want the hassle.

the definition of "one pull of the trigger" applies

lets say your finger had nothing but fast twitch cat like reflexes and you could squeeze off 600rpm or so, its still a semi auto

my guess is because of the way you have to hold (or rather not hold on to it) your third or fourth round is going over the berm

The Akins was illegal because it had what was essentially second recoil spring in the stock to push the firearm forward again. The new Slidefire doesn't, you have to pull it forward yourself. The simple little spring that makes all the difference.

I love how people whip out technicalities to justify something lol. Its still an automatic rifle with that thing on it.

Exactly the people who have/save the money to buy them aren't going to go commit crimes with them. And the people who would use them for crime will get the illegally anyways.

and the people that use them for crime probably have little skill and will end up hosing out 30 rounds at a time, hitting nothing and running out of rounds in a minute and a half.

Thats not true at all. The more autos in safe hands, still mean more autos in bad hands. You really think money is going to stop a criminal from getting an auto? Thats if they dont have one already.

Sigh......folks, full auto weapons are legal in the US now, as is artillery and tanks and suppressors.

funny, there is no ruling on building, owning or discharge of a flamethrower... the atf could care less, but chop off your shotty to less than 18" or mod your ar-15 with mil-spec parts and...

Oh yes, you can build them in the living room. You are also allowed to own muzzle loading artillery of any size you like with no registration at all.

but these days its cheaper and easier to buy what i want. plus i dont have a machine shop anymore... i miss my mill and lathe...

muzzle loader also don't have a waiting period and you can buy ammo and powder at the same time. you are restricted in Cali on how much powder you are allowed to keep in your home.. think it was like 2 pounds or some asinine amount like that.
