Super torches!

I thought maybe we could keep a thread on just these large beasts of 1 mil +. Maybe Meta can organize small and larger torch recommendations any sticky the threads?

I'm currently using a Garrity 1 mill, not the best, but others I have tried including the crusty orange torches from Canadian Tire worked a few times and died.

I've looked into one I found in the states with swappable batteries but figured I'd pick one up when I go.

The Black & Decker ones that some of you are using aren't available at either Home depot or lowes. Any suggestions? Am I looking in the wrong place?

Yup. It seems to be the only quality product I've purchased from Wally world.

Well that and the 4D 'hobo basher' maglight was good too. I'm still holding out for the 12D mag so I can used it as a urbex sword.

Oh geez, my favorite retail establishment...

I guess I could make an exception.

Controleman ages ago recommended the Pelican BIG D to me, which if I remember right took 6 d batteries and was rechargeable. I've never seen one.

hem, hem.

Home Depot (and lots of places) have the Black & Decker v-2million beastie. It'll take a few charge/discharge cycles to get back up to full battery life, but it's pretty decent for a megatorch at $30.

HD Canada doesn't carry it. Their selection of lights is shite.

Order it online unless shipping/tariffs are ugly. It's worth having if you want a megatorch.

If its $30 I might just it at a buffalo wal mart next time I go, but how much is it rob @ a GTA walmart...? I keep getting this message "B&D V-2 Million Power Series™ Rechargeable Spotlight is not available at your selected location." for every store in Toronto."

... no wonder I'm not seeing them anywhere!

US walmart doesn't have them. If they do, I'd be quite surprised. I traveled to a Canadian walmart for mine. US walmart's selection blows and it all cheaper quality stuff.

I got mine at a wally world somewhere near Burlington a few miles away from that toll highway.

I believe the 2M one I got was like 39.95 or 45 CAN.

Yeah, I'm getting the same message. Maybe they're not stocking them anymore.

I've seen them as high as $39.99 there and much lower on sale.

I just happened to be in a US wally world yesterday. Cincidentally they've just stocked like 10 new B&W models of spolights. BUT, none of them are the famous 2M hand cannon and many run on D batteries. Be careful you don't get something the same size, color, and look, but it's not it.

Home depot just stocked a 2 mil $25 one that had led's..looks like a d battery model as well. They seem to be be going all LED now, even energizer's tuff series which looks like a 1 mill torch but is basically an led mag light.

I'm gonna try a walmart outside of town, if they have been cleared out I might get lucky and snag one like I did with the garrity for $11

Here is my main "over 1 mil torch":

http://www.canadia...Spot%252BLight.jsp

I have a few others, but none compare to the light output, or the run time from this. Beam pattern is darn good too. (I put a review up on the Crappy tire website)

Just wait for it to go on sale, they are half off a few times a year. Ya, its a tad on the large size, but its around the same weight as the smaller oness. Oh, did I mention light output?

This seems a little like overkill unless your in a cave or something. I will keep an eye out for it when its like 50-70% off. I'm assuming that its got smart charging on it to prevent over charging? I'm kind of annoyed that I never know how much I've charged the garrity but one of them lasted me a good two years.

Mine (B&D V-2million) has 3 LEDs (2 red, 1 green) that indicate charge status...but it tells you to not leave it charging for too long after it goes green. The Stanley HID has a single light that goes red/orange/green for charge status. Its light also indicates charge while you're using it.

I have the same torch, everybody says the same thing "Isn't that kinda overkill?" but when they actually have a play with it they often agree that it's pretty cool.

Run time is 50mins+ and it will hold it's brightness for a good while.

Charge time is 3 hours from mains and 18 from car.

OK I can't find one of these so I've put off purchase of anything till the garrity completely dies, or I get a Fenix TK40. I know JD has one, but any of the board's faithful members have one? I don't feel too good about buying a dodgy dx 600 lumen light for 1/3 price.
