One kinda weird thing about it - it's two tone with a black slide and silver frame.

This is from the Tactical Pro II page on kImber's website.

http://www.kimbera...l/tactical_pro_II/

Frame:
Material: Aluminum
Finish: Matte gray
KimPro II™ frame finish
Width (inches): 1.28
Frontstrap checkering
Checkering under trigger guard

Slide:
Material: Steel
Finish: Matte black

Check the barrel and make sure everything is working and legal and youve got a damn good deal.

I don't personally favor Kimber, but I'm in the minority. They are known to make a fine pistol. $600 sounds like a perfectly reasonable price.

I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread.

Sweet. Thanks guys I'm excited about it. I need to see it to be sure. One kinda weird thing about it - it's two tone with a black slide and silver frame. I can't seem to find an example photo.
As for holster, I've got one of these:

Seems to work well so far.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that doesn't look especially useful for concealed carry, as it doesn't leave much of the shape of the gun to the imagination. It also looks slightly unsafe.

Its called an Iroquois carry. Its actually not bad as long as you have a manual safety. Personally I prefer a galco chest rig for my 1911 (just bought it) because it is too heavy, but for smaller autos that holster is pretty comfy. You can actually adjust the tension in the holster to retain the pistol better. At least on some models you can...

$600 is a good price.
Buy it and be happy.
How many rounds have been run through it? I doubt a lot, if he is selling it.
Remember, a .45 is not even broken in until 4000 rounds have been fired through it.
I would urge you to lay down a little more cash and get a REAL holster, preferably a Galco. LAPG sells them cheap.

So I'm thinking of buying one of these from my friend - Kimber tactical pro II
Does anyone know if this is a comfortable carry pistol for an average size guy? I was hoping that it's fairly compact but I haven't actually seen it yet. I know the MSRP is never quite close to the real price but $600 is a decent price for used isn't it?

Hey, thanks for the suggestions. The picture I posted is directly from the Kimber website. I don't actually have of the pistol in question, I only have the description that was given to me. As soon as I can look at it I'll decide if I'm going to buy it.

Also, I went to the local gun store and checked one out. They are about mid size and not much larger than my current carry pistol so I don't see much of an issue with carrying it. I don't always carry in my holster anyway - I have a Maxpedition Fatboy with the velcro holster inside. I could carry a fullsize WWII 1911 if I wanted to .

In any case it felt excellent in my hands. He said that it has the night sights on it too.

I did not know the Kimber had an aluminum frame. Not necessarily a problem if its dont have a lot of rounds through it, the first Colt Commanders had some wear issues, cracks, galling where the steel slide rubbed saw these for myself in the 70s and 80s which made me buy the Combat Commander, steel frame couple or 5 more oz maybe.

I worked for the guy that developed Nitex (Colt Guard) electroless nickle plating we re-did some alloy frames for Colt, didnt add any dimensionally to the frame but when we put them slides back on the +300F heat used in the process kinda warped or swoll'd them frames up and they wouldnt slide for shit, he had to hand lap everyone of them

I think newer alloys dont have the galling problems

I carry a Kimber Ultra Carry II in .45 with crimson trace grips. Awsome piece, light as hell and has a hell of a bark. I usually carry IWB but have been carrying in a belt holster with a jacket lately. Heading down to Frontsight next week for a 4 day defensive pistol class, should be fun as hell despite the price of it all...

My normal carry gun is a H&K USP .40
My "summer" gun, or if I have to wear a shirt and tie but am not wearing a jacket, is my Bersa Thunder .380

Recently just got a Colt Combat Commander 1911 .45 Love it.

Looking to purchase a Kimber Classic Custom, for $600 (25 rounds fired) from the same friend I bought the Colt from.

I dont carry my 92F anymore, I jumped up to the USP .40 a few years back and I prefer it now, but I still love my 92F. It's a reliable weapon, but I dont want to be switching in and out regular carry guns, so its been shelved for now.

Started out carrying a Browning Hi-Power 9mm, but these days it's a Tanfoglio Witness in 9mm.

Summer carry is a LCP. When its cool enough for a coat or more concealable clothing it's my M9 or H&K Compact 40.
