Yeah, we've had some snow at this winter. And once again my way did take me to this forgotten farm. House was built at 1800. I've been able to dig some information about it's past.

At 1872 70-years old woman, who couldn't take care of herself anymore (they did kind of circle them around the village so everyone did take care of her for sometime) decide to visit one of neighbours at July... which at that time did mean long walk on mostly roadless roads. Gotta mention that just few years before there were lot of wolves all around, and one man on hayfield were attacked by 7 wolves. Luckily he did have axe with him and finally he were able to get out of situation.

But anyway, that old woman did get out and vanish. Her body was found at october from deep, deep into forest. She probably were lost and finally died in hunger.

At 1900 this farm did have:

5 adults, 4 children, 3 horses, 8 cows, 4 heifers, 14 sheeps and 2 pigs. They also did have 4823 hectares of fields and 15 436 hectares of hayfields... or at least places to get hay.

But anyway, after this short look into it's history, here comes the photos from February's 27th day at 2024.

That story is something out of a fairy tale. Great shots, and beautiful scenery. 4,823 hectares is huge.. Did you find any other buildings on that land?

Awesome photos. What lenses do you use? I like the array of zooms and focal lengths here, especially with the snowfall photograph. Cool that you found some history too, something that Im not too keen on finding.

Yeah, I also wonder can that land area really be true for this one RENTED farm... but it was on book that were published for town that did rent this farm. One thing could be that fields have understood bit different back then. I also did check if hectare was different back then, but it seems that it was same. I suppose one resolution could be that those numbers mean all land area of all farms that this town did rent. But still... I don't know. And I know that there has been LOT of buildings, but most of them are gone now.

Anyway, thank you very much. I really feel I did choose right at that morning.

CHEERS! Third pint going on, next I will take some whiskey.

Yeah, I'm sooo happy about that "all Finnish newspapers since 1800s" archive. Makes also wonder how many stories every old place contains.

And we are, even my miss is at work this saturday evening. I hope everything is well there too.

Thank you so very much! I have two lenses: Sigma 12-24mm (which I did bought used and sadly has something strange going on: works fine only with vertical views - it makes left side somewhat blurry and it doesn't bother so much when shooting vertical) and for closer views and details I use Canon 75-300 mm.

I'm happy for that too, there are so many real life stories included to these... and some of them can be digged out from free archives. No need to mention how much I appreciate those free Finnish archives...

For me it makes these places closer, you know, makes more real how people really did live and die there, they were as alive as we are now and now they are long gone... I don't know if it is my age, 50 waits under 3 years but somehow... bloody hell, too drunk to explain it right now. But we are and then we are gone and MAYBE someone will remember something or like most probably, soon nobody doesn't remember you even ever exist. That keeps me humble.

And now back to drinking.

Thank you sooo much, and I will. Sadly I didn't take more photos of that hat, I always try to take as less photos as possible and save even less. But hey, knowing me it's only matter of time when I'll be back there...
