Public Apology to Undercity.

I recently wrote a rather public and less than nice posting about my dissatisfaction of the hospitality that Undercity offered me in New York. I'd like to publicly apologise to him for that. What I did was wrong. At the very least I should have complained to him only.

Steve offered me hospitality, and due to miscommunication on both of our parts, it did not pan out. I fell I was ungratful for being so insulting when things hit the fan. Though, I feel that had he taken a moment to check my shedual which I sent him a link to, this could have been avoided. However, it was still wrong of me to air all that crap in public, and wrong to be so ungracious in the first place. Steve had good intentions, his heart was in the right place. After spending a day searching unsucessfully for a place to stay I had just had enough and pretty much resigned myself to going home.

I just totally stressed/freaked out at the thought of being on the streets in a big city a long way from home due to reasons which relate to me but which I do not want to discuss.

My sincire apolagies to Steve. It is a very noble and good person who kindly offeres a stranger a place to stay. I'm sorry I was so rude and lacking in understanding of your circumstances and the nature of your offer. I guess in many ways I deserve your criticism and scorn.

Best regards,
Panic.

Blimey, how hard can it be to find a hostel/place to stay in NYC!

When i went to Israel alone, I got a place in a hostel as soon as i had left the airport, and even my original plans had gone tits up, yet I did'nt turn and flee on the next flight home!!

My point is, if you can't handle a little disruption and give up so easily you should not be travelling alone. The USA is a modern albeit a little dangerous country, but I've been alone in 'third world' countries with little money and sleeping in very basic accomadation and never once thought about giving up and coming home.

Yes it can get tough, and yes there was tears on my travels certainly, but never once did I throw in the towel......What does'nt kill you, comes to mind my man.....

That still seems like you are trying to shift the blame towards him!

If it was THAT important for him to check your itinerary, perhaps you should have let him know that it was ESSENTIAL for him to do so?

From the sounds of things, the blame is squarely on you.

How is HE responsible for your lack of planning and foresight?

Anyways, whatever. This should be locked as well.

Perhaps the rest of the people here don't read any of these thousands of threads, or there's something wrong with their memory?

Because I remember you telling sometime ago, how you had to live on the street in New Mexico was it, when some person didn't show up, even when he was suppose to? So hell yes, facing again a situation like that would have freaked me too...and most likely other people too.

And yet ANOTHER reason he should have been prepared for EVERY contingency. Quit making excuses.

Debating this again is kind of pointless... it seemed pretty clear mistakes were made on both sides. What's done is done. An apology of sorts has been made, and that's a positive thing, so ragging on him for doing so is not really beneficial here...

You're an admin, posting something like this and then leaving it open for others speaks volumes.

So no one else can provide any feedback? What's wrong with asking people for some restraint, other than perhaps it's expecting way too much? People should be able to throw their 2 cents in and leave it at that without this getting so catty.

Panic wrote 4 paragraphs of humble apology, and 1 sentence of trying to save face so you and Jules jump all over it. I think that's more along the lines of what Jester was referring to. You both completely ignored that entire element of his post. Try to aim for some kind of balance, please.

And there are all kinds of reasons someone might have a seemingly 'irrational' problem with a situation most people wouldn't find so troubling, but this gets jumped all over as well. I'm sure writing an apology was difficult enough- other details shouldn't be necessary. We should just be thankful that some people around here are big enough to admit when they're wrong.

Panic's post should have been a private message... his first post should also have been a private message, in the other thread.

Regardless, he's had his say and it's time for this discussion to be over. I know that everyone wants to throw in their two cents, but this is an issue with Panic and Undercity, not with anyone else.
