| | | How about the trailer at the entrance? I found that to be something of an oddity. The features inside were fairly new and not weather-worn, yet the windows had been smashed and the place clearly trashed (err...pardon the rhyme...it wasn't on purpose). I'm sure the place had been trashed fairly recently, but on a building that looked much newer than anything else on the land, why was it left in such condition? When I was there, I saw all the equipment lying around, including the large culverts. There was somebody driving a bobcat, pushing gravel and dirt around on the road and a few other dudes chilling by a car, but none of the other equipment was in use at that particular moment. They basically told me to gtfo. I saw the culverts too; I'm not sure if they were ripped out of the ground or were new and going to be placed somewhere. I didn't get close enough to see. Next time I pass through I will definitely have to look further.

| | | It was pretty vacant when I was there today. I'll post some pics. 1.
2.
Yummaay, last visit this was still up, the water damage is more concerning. 3.
This was just left open..? 4.
Also seems like they just up and went. 5.
This was confusing, perfectly good cabinets anyone?
Edit: I didn't see that trailer or the bobcat. I didn't go all the way to "main" entrance because I came in from a different direction. [last edit 8/8/2011 1:38 AM by thegerm - edited 1 times]

| | | It seems quite clear that somebody is busy doing something...but what? If it were being developed, they would start clearing out the junk everywhere.

| | | I hope my theory is correct and they just use land in front of it because if one uses the money to demo it and build a new one, wouldn't that be a waste? This place went out of business for a reason the main lodge seems to have a damaged foundation as the soil around is very marshy and soft. The hills around are quite loose.

| | | While I'm sure they wouldn't reopen it for skiing, that doesn't rule out destroying the building. If I were going to recreate the lake as either a resort or for upscale real estate (like the houses on the other side of the lake), I would remove the eyesore (not to mention the massive hazard). As the capital region expands, little isolated areas like this are more and more likely to be redeveloped. I suspect it'll be but a matter of time. Luckily, I think mother nature is working harder on reclaiming this one than the land's owner.

I don't recall this hole you speak of. No pics to remind me anyways. I'll be sure to look for it next time. Did you get a peek inside?

| | | Oh ya that hole, I have no idea whats its purpose is, its too high for animal to do it. Maybe it was dug for access to a utility line.

| | | I stopped by the place while out on a drive in June. The trailer at the entrance was more or less intact at the time. It seemed like some of the equipment there was being used to make a clearing in the forest halfway between the entrance and the lodge. The gate was locked, but on the way out we got stopped by a young kid (18-20) in a pick up with his girl friend. Who asked 'can I help you', he was clearly nervous approaching us, and followed us out from a distance.

| | | I finally had a chance to head over here on the weekend. Compared to the earlier photos of the place I'd seen, it certainly has changed. In a lot of areas, the water damage is massive. Rainwater that had seeped through the roof has made its way through the ceiling of the upper floor. There's several areas where you can look up through the roof and see the sky. In many more places, much like a couple images in this thread show, insulation in the ceiling is bulging with water and ready to burst. In many areas, it already has. Moldy insulation from the ceiling is spilling into the building. Take this image from earlier in the thread, for example:
Here's how that looks today (well, actually, last Friday): I don't have a lot of pictures. I accidently left my camera at home and was forced to rely on my phone's camera, whose flash doesn't light things up quite enough at night (yes, yes, it wasn't the best time to visit either). I have a handful more, but not really much that hasn't already been posted.
I do wonder about this though (sorry about the blurriness): Has there always been a room full of broken toilets on the main level? There seems to be a lot more toilets there than there are places where toilets once were around the building. The place certainly has a lot of junk dumped there.
We also found this old fridge out behind the building (at the top of a set of stairs leading down the hill). Inside of it there was a number of rather ancient jars, including what seems to be a never-opened jar of mayonnaise. There was also what appeared to have been either pickles or pickled eggs. Whatever it was, it was old enough that I couldn't tell what exactly it was =0. When we found the fridge, it was closed and turned over. It might have been like that for awhile. Yes, we put it back when it was done. I do have a few more pictures that turned out alright, but nothing too spectacular. If there's interest, I might post a couple more of them that are unique or otherwise of interest.

| | | Huh, me and sapper were there a month ago and the roof was still intact(barely). I think the toilets and junk were part of the building but they were just left there at the entrance to be picked up but nobody never did. It also seems to have unfinished renovations which may explain the toilet surplus. [last edit 11/2/2011 2:37 AM by thegerm - edited 1 times]

| | | As I said, there's several spots where you can look up from the 3rd floor and see the sky. Shit (sometimes literally, sometimes not) has fallen through those holes like crazy, as has a constant stream of water, every time it rains. Winter isn't going to help matters at all...
