I was there for three days this past summer, and of all the cities I visited (Berlin, Munich, Prague, Dresden, Lucerne, Zurich, Paris, and Innsbruck) it was my least favourite. There's something about those stations in particular, in that many were closed at the onset of some of the most tumultuous times in European history. There's also many abandoned stations (perhaps moreso) in New York apparently. I've lost the web pages about them, but there's one in particular regarding NY's underground train treasures, which one could surely find by Googling.
