Crestview lanes provided many happy memories for lots of folks for nearly half a century. (photo courtesy of www.valcomnews.com)
Built in 1963 and family owned, the bowling alley closed due to high maintenance costs and the general economy. It was one of the city's oldest. There were many who were sad to see the demise of this 32 lane, 180,000 square foot hang out

Hey!!! That was my old stomping grounds! Knocked over many pins there when I was a kid. Thanks for the trip down memory "lane".

This also triggered a flashback. The most recent time I was there was in 2001. When I went to Sanctuary. A Gothic night club that shared the building. Good times!

Gothic nightclub seems so out of place in a wholesome bowling alley environment lol. When the three of us took that outside shot we got grease on our pants. Someone mentioned they grease any sitting areas to discourage loitering/prostitution. The more ya know.

That's so cool. That 60s hair, though

Love it! Get any good pictures of the mechanical rooms?

Apparently, someone said it was this bowling alley where the oil incident is described in a newspaper. It's actually in Vallejo at some residential area. http://www.sfgate.....php#photo-2019794 Click through the slideshow.

Dang that's awesome! I have always wanted to check out an abandoned bowling alley! So cool that there's still so much stuff left inside.

Pretty sure it's been flattened. I hope some of the old fixtures and furniture found a good home.

In the mid-nineties I actually worked a security gig here. So it wasn't as wholesome as some might think. Had a lot of issues with drugs & vagrants at the time. The over-all area wasn't all that great at that time. Thanks for the memories.

IRL view, as in you're there? When I look at street view I see some gym in the same lot, but it looks like just the Crestview Lanes sign remains for the actual bowling alley.
