| | Old Train Depot - My first exploration. < on 10/21/2008 2:46 AM >
| | | Bought a tripod today and decided to go snap a few pics and ended up doing a very light exploration of the old train depot here in town. It was my first and what do you know? I ran into the cops. Apparently, one of the trains that went by saw us and called. The officer was very nice, as was I, and he just told us to be careful. We didn't actually go in (apparently it's still active and serves as city trash can and signage storage, and is locked up tight). Anyways, on to the pics.
The front of the building.
One of the back entrances.
Back of the depot.
I'm pretty sure this is the train that called the cops.
Comments and critiques welcome and appreciated.

| | | Nice stuff! Ex ATSF depot. *wow, so the train must have called the RR police which contacted local PD, what Railroad runs on that line? [last edit 10/21/2008 2:56 AM by Bustedknuckle - edited 1 times]

| | | the last picture looks so cool lol, and the pictures are good! That looks like somewhere worth exploring once the city stops using it as a trash can

I guess so. All I know is the cops showed up 5 minutes after that train went by. There were 3 or 4 other trains though. I think BNSF is the company.

| | | Thats interesting. BNSF police are actually pretty cool, its the UP guys to watch for. But neither really played a part in this story . Great pics though.

| | | Nice pics, I really like the third one. Does anyone know if it is some type of mandatory company policy for Railway workers to contact the LE if they see people near railroad property or tracks, or is at the discretion of the crew? I am not familiar with the whole railway bit and probably ought to know more.

| | | Its at the discretion really. BNSF and UP encourage train crews to call in all suspicious activity near the right of way. Most crews are cool though and wont call you in unless you are acting like a complete asshat. Jaredog musta caught an engineer that was PMSing.

Yeah he must have been a bit grumpy. As you can see from the last pic, we were behind a chain-link fence and were just standing there covering our ears from the noise.

haha. You should have been with me Saturday. We were in a very loud spot, but dammit, we stood there and took it like men. Damn those little ear hairs! Who needs em. As for the cops, could be that someone other than the train crew called, or that the cops just happened by and wanted to check out what was going on.

| | | The best is when you are standing there looking right at a train coming but you are so focused on the camera that you forget about the horn and when he hits it you jump like an idiot. Happens to me 3 out of 4 times .

| | | Very nice set. In my area they only call if you are in danger of getting hit or they see young kids hanging around alone.
