| | | personally, i think the black and white version is gorgeous...and i didn't have much of a problem with the original to begin with. yes the sky is rather dull, but the scenery and reflection are well-captured anyway.

| | | I really love how the reflection is right on with the actual structure. That is awesome. The dull sky doesn't bother me a bit. I think the black and white is awesome as well.

| | | Well, the building itself kinda looks a little sad / dreary and overcast doesn't really hinder it, think about what it would look like in full sunlight... and blue skies ... almost contrasting. Bright blue sky, damp little shack on the pond. I can't tell which direction you are facing in the photo, but if you could get the house pictured as the sunsets behind/nearby that would be perfect. Not a fan of the sepia, just doesn't feel right for this photo. To me sepia is more of an inside thing, sometimes outside, but meh I don't know I'm just not digging the sepia. The black and white looks awesome... seems more of a fit for the photo. Wish you could have got a few different angle shots... or maybe a few more close up ones. But still overall great picture.

| | | It could be a cool picture, but the sky kinda kills it. If there were more definition in up there it could look great. You cant control the weather though so try similar ideas on days with more ideal conditions. Also don't let this steer you away from shooting on cloudy days, there are definite chances to get great shots in bad weather.

| | | I was thinking...maybe you should crop out the sky entirely. Let the reflections in the water show what's behind the shed...

| | | Putting your camera on B&W mode does not help, especially since it's overcast. If you're going to have a black and white image, take the photo in color, and do a black and white conversion. B&W mode on cameras makes the images come out uber flat. Also, read up on the rule of thirds.

And don't do B&W conversion with desaturation - use channel mixer. As for the rule of thirds... well, according to Wikipedia article "the application of the rule of thirds to photographs is considered by many to make them more aesthetically pleasing and professional-looking", but while you are at it, why don't you also study how ancient Egyptians used to draw stuff. Everyone did the same. Always. Everywhere.

| | | Just crop out the sky at the top of the photo, maybe as much as 1/3 of the whole photo. Try it with the tip of the roof coming almost to the top frame. You don't need the photo to be vertically symmetrical.

| | | I think that your composition is too centered. The photo is split precisely in half at the bottom of the shed. Basic rules of photography suggest this composition is not visually appealing. Your subject (the shed & reflection) is perfectly centered vertically and horizontally. Try the rule of thirds in your composition next time, and put the main focus off center both horizontally and vertically and you'll have a much better pic. I do like the reflection, and don't really mind the gray sky. It gives it a certain mood. But since the sky is a big part of this picture, try taking the photo when the sky is more dramatic. Moving clouds and a long exposure can really put energy into your shot, as well as sunset, sunrise, stars, moon, etc. Gray just doesn't add anything, only removes. -free

| | | Take it again on a sunny day, I think it needs more contrast between the trees and the building which full sunlight may provide. Other than that I think it's great.
